DER ALT-RIGHT-KOMPLEX Die Alt-Right ist jedoch nicht nur eine politische Bewegung, die eine Alter-
native zum US-amerikanischen konservativen rechten Establishment schaffen
will. Vielmehr steht sie für einen regelrechten Kulturkampf. Die Alt-Right

Back in 2013 when the Internet was still “uncharted territory” for German
Chancellor Angela Merkel, Steve Bannon (then executive chair of Breitbart
News, the mouthpiece of the Alt-Right) and others founded the data analysis
firm Cambridge Analytica in New York. Using microtargeting, that is per-
sonalised (election) ads, and so-called dark posts on Facebook and other
platforms, the company manipulated the 2016 US presidential elections – in
Donald Trump’s favour. Previously, Cambridge Analytica had already exercised
a massive influence on the Brexit campaign via social media in 2015 – 2016.
In 2018, Facebook was made to publish the personalised adverts used by the
“leave.eu” campaign in the UK: Amongst other things, they claimed that EU
politicians were using British money to pay for limousines and that the EU
planned to ban tea kettles and so destroy the British tea culture.
Quite fittingly yet coincidental, the exhibition’s opening fell on the planned

Communities in der deutschen Öffentlichkeit über Jahre ungehört?
In dem Comic von Paula Bulling und Anne König gibt es keine Antworten auf
diese Fragen, aber Bilder, die Wirklichkeitsmomente rekonstruieren. Die Zeich
nungen, die Fakt und Imagination verschränken, zeigen drei Akteurinnen, die
gewollt oder ungewollt Nebenrollen in der Geschichte des NSU einnehmen:
Susann Eminger, aktive Unterstützerin des Trios; Frau N., Verwaltungsbeamte
im Kölner Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz, und Gamze Kubaşık, Tochter von
Mehmet Kubaşık, der am 4. April 2006 in Dortmund ermordet wurde. Jahrelang
waren die Familien der Opfer unter falschen Verdächtigungen verhört worden.
Ihrer Vermutung, dass die Täter*innen aus dem rechtsextremen Umfeld stam-
men könnten, gingen die deutschen Sicherheitsbehörden nicht nach. Die dritte
Episode über Gamze Kubaşık wird in der Ausstellung Der Alt-Right-Komplex

Why wasn’t Susann Eminger, the closest friend of Beate Zschäpe, not also in the
dock in Munich? Ultimately, it was she who helped Beate Zschäpe acquire an
identity in the underground with official papers. Why wasn’t there a single
successful disciplinary procedure at the higher administrative levels of the po-
lice and the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, which failed
in its investigations of the ➤ NSU and even obstructed the solving of the case, in
some cases through the destruction of records? Why have the voices of immi-
grant communities remained unheard in German public life for years?
There are no answers to these questions in the comic from Paula Bulling and
Anne König, but there are images that reconstruct moments of reality. The

drawings, which interlace fact and imagination, show three protagonists who,
intentionally or unintentionally, play supporting roles in the history of the NSU:
Susann Eminger, active supporter of the trio; Mrs N., administrative officer in
Paula Bulling / Anne König the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Cologne, and
Gamze Kubaşık, the daughter of Mehmet Kubaşık, who was murdered on 4
April 2006 in Dortmund. The families of the victims were interrogated for
