herzlich willkommen zur ersten Ausgabe des Internationalen Cello- Wettbewerbes „Anna Kull“ an der Kunstuni- versität Graz. 95 junge Teilnehmer_innen aus 30 verschiedenen Nationen sind der Aus- schreibung „singend spielen“ gefolgt. Die Aussicht, sich einer international renommierten Jury zu stellen und zudem ausführliches Feed- back und Coachings zu erhalten, hat die jugend- lichen Cellist_innen nach Graz geführt. Durch die rege Beteiligung von Gastfamilien wird der Wettbewerbsaufenthalt zu einem auch persönlich bereichernden Erlebnis für die Teilnehmer_innen werden. Zwei – mit Jens Peter Maintz und Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt als „Cello Duello“ und David Geringas prominent besetzte – Meisterkonzerte, zeigen Spitzen- vertreter des Cellofachs in Aktion und bieten den Teilnehmer_innen einen hochwertigen Rahmen, sich untereinander auszutauschen. Der Wettbewerb ist von der ersten Runde an öffentlich und kann somit bis zum Galakonzert am 22. Februar 2020 hautnah mitverfolgt werden. Ein herzlicher Dank gilt den Korrepetitor_innen des Wettbewerbs für ihre Unterstützung unserer jungen Musiker_innen in der Vorbereitung und auf der Bühne: Levon Avagyan, I-Ting Chen, Fiona Fortin, Olena Miso und Baiba Osina. Ein besonderer Dank gilt unseren Sponsoren und Förderern: HYPO Vorarlberg, Rotary Club Graz-Neutor, Soroptimist International Austria Club Graz, Graz Tourismus und Stadtmarketing GmbH, Dr. Dolf Stockhausen, Leonhard Grill sowie Andrea Molnar & Thomas Platzgummer. Zudem freuen wir uns, dass folgende Veranstalter_innen zugesagt haben, Preisträger_innen des Wettbewerbs zu Konzerten bzw. Künstleraufenthalten einzuladen: Haus styriarte/Steirische Kulturveranstaltungen GmbH, Jeunesse - Musikalische Jugend Österreich, Musikverein Graz, Scandinavian Cello School Dänemark sowie internationale kammermusik + meisterkurs Tage (ikmT). Am 23. Oktober 2020 wird zudem ein Preisträger_innenkonzert im Rahmen des Hauptabonnements der Kunstuniversität Graz stattfinden. welcome to the first edition of the International Cello Competition “Anna Kull” at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. 95 young participants from 30 countries have followed the invitation to register for this competition under the motto of suonare cantante. The young cellists will seize the opportunity of performing in Graz in front of a top-class international jury who will provide detailed feedback and coaching sessions. As participants will stay with host families, their stay in Graz will certainly also be personally rewarding. Two concerts by outstanding masters of the cello – David Geringas, Jens Peter Maintz and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt – show world-class cellists in action and provide a unique environment for the participants to exchange experiences and get to know each other. All rounds of the competition are open to the public. The audience can thus enjoy the young musicians up close from the first competition round until the gala concert on February 22, 2020. We would like to thank the répétiteurs for supporting our young musicians in preparing for the competition as well as during the performances on stage: Levon Avagyan, I-Ting Chen, Fiona Fortin, Olena Miso and Baiba Osina. A concert of the prizewinners will take place on October 23, 2020 as part of the main subscription series of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Scandinavian Cello School has one simple aim:

SCS is based at the worlds first ever permanent center and retreat for cellists, near the
UNESCO heritage site of Stevns Klint (one hour from Copenhagen, Denmark).
Cellists are welcome from all over the world to apply for various projects. Scandinavian
Cello School is a non-for-profit organisation and participants always receive a 100%
scholarship for tuition costs.
