Kloster gilt außerdem als die Geburtsstätte des historischen Chan-Buddhismus,
dem Vorläufer des Zen (kor. Seon, viet. Thien, sanskrit Dhyana).
Westsee
Den Namen Shaolin-Tempel (chinesisch 少林寺 Shàolín Sì) tragen daneben auch
eine Reihe anderer Klöster in der Volksrepublik China, Korea (Sorim), Indochina Hauptattraktion in Hangzhou ist der westlich der Innenstadt liegende rund 500 Hektar
und Japan (Shorinji). große Westsee (Xihu) mit über 60 einzelnen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Dieser See wurde wegen
seiner Schönheit und der für Chinesen unverzichtbaren Symbolkraft des Wassers in ganz Der Westsee
Eine der beiden Steinpagoden China und Japan mehrfach kopiert, z.T. durch künstlichen Aufstau. Im Westsee befinden
des Lingyin Tempels sich drei kleine Pagoden, die in China als Symbol des Sees gelten und auf der Rückseite des
1-Yuan-Scheins abgebildet sind. Im Juni 2011 hat die UNESCO den Westsee und seine
Umgebung zum Weltkulturerbe erklärt.
Hangzhou
Hángzhōu (chinesisch 杭州) ist die Hauptstadt der chinesischen Provinz Zhejiang Fengjing
und hat über acht Millionen Einwohner. Das Kurzzeichen ist 杭. Hangzhou liegt an

Lingyin-Tempel
Der Lingyin-Tempel (靈隐寺 / 灵隐寺 Língyǐn Sì), auch als Lingyin-Kloster (auf
deutsch als Tempel/Kloster der Seelenzuflucht, Tempel/Kloster der
Verborgenen Unsterblichen oder Tempel/Kloster der wunderwirkenden
Weltferne) bezeichnet, ist ein zen-buddhistisches Kloster nord-westlich von
Hangzhou, Zhejiang Provinz, China.
Es ist eines der größten und wohlhabendsten Klöster Chinas.
