CULTURE TOUR G MARIEN CHAPEL near parish church THROUGH ZELL AM SEE The Marien Chapel was built, in 1774, on the site of ‘Our Lady of the Forest’ Church which was destroyed by fire in 1770. The most admired cult object of this chapel is a painting of the ‘Ährenkleidmadonna’, called the ‘wheat woman of the Pinzgau’ by the locals. P Seeuferstrasse 6 A manor house erected by Archbishop Konrad of Salzburg. It was named ANTON THUSWALDNER FOUNTAIN ‘Lohninghof’ in 1527 after the lord of the manor, Leonhard Laninger. U Salzburgerplatz It is under national trust since 1966. The fountain at the ‘Salzburgerplatz’ was created in 1980 by artist Anton Thuswaldner. The round stone fountain is decorated with typical figures of the artist. ALFRED KUBIN EXHIBITION Q Lohninghof, Seeuferstraße 6 KAPRUN PARISH CHURCH ’ST. MARGARETHA‘, The permanent exhibition “Traum & Wirklichkeit“ (Dream & Reality) of the V POWER PLANT CONSTRUCTION-MEMORIAL Austrian painter and author Alfred Kubin has been open to visitors in the stairwell and the event hall of Lohinghof in Thumbersbach since October PLAQUE, MEMORIAL SITE 2018. The exhibition includes 67 works, with some directly related to Zell am Kirchbichl See and to defining events, which Kubin experienced there. The Meixnerhaus dates from 1714-this is written on the ridge of its roof. The cellar appears to be substantially older. The house has belonged to the parish rectory since 1912 and is used for many different parish oc- casions and events: ranging from choir practices to Christmas singing, from ministrant’s lessons to Advent on Kaprun’s Kirchbichl. BARBARAKAPELLE (BARBARA CHAPEL) X Barbarastrasse CULTURE TOUR The Barbara Chapel is a modest construction, rebuilt in 1953-1954, according to plans by Fidelius Schmid. The five-sided apse, with a south-facing vestry, adjoins the hip-roofed nave on the eastern side. THROUGH KAPRUN The ridge turret, with its high pointed spire, is situated over the western front wall. Square windows structure the building. There is a niche with the Station of the Cross, over the north-west entrance, with the mosaic inscription ‘Jesus carries the Cross on his shoulders’.
