Comforting Nicky
This is a two-part piece, consisting of an ex- Netflixserien und Romanen in imaginäre
perimental German short story accompanied Welten fliehen. Da waren ja noch deren
by a short explanatory essay in English. Deadlines und dieser Teilzeitjob, der Mitte

war und der die ganze Situation für Nicky
dadurch nur noch weiter verzwackte. Auf

entgegengefiebert hatte: Endlich wieder fragte Nicky sich, ob überhaupt noch
all die Freunde sehen, die inzwischen in jemandem auffiel, dass dey existierte; die
der großen weiten Welt verteilt lebten Art und Weise auf die dey in den Zoom-
und nur noch allzu selten zusammen Meetings angesprochen wurde, wenn
kamen. Nun hatte Nicky also Geburtstag, überhaupt, ließ auf jeden Fall keine guten

Nicky seufzte. Diese Pandemie schluckte Nicky rührte ein weiteres Mal deren
wirklich alles. Alles, was Nicky sich am Kaffee um, nahm einen Schluck, und
Anfang des Jahres vorgenommen hatte, erschauerte. Kalt, natürlich.

sich unmöglich den ganzen Tag mit gedacht, dass dey es mal vermissen

“ÖFFNE MICH”. Nicky tat wie geheißen,
fühlte sich ein bisschen wie Alice im Nicky verdrehte die Augen. Was sollte
Wunderland, und musste grinsen. In dem das denn jetzt? Ein Hinweis im Shampoo?
Umschlag befand sich eine unscheinbare Und dey sollte nicht reißen? Ja, aber wie

aufzuzeigen.”1 Kaum hatte Nicky die getan, lief wieder gelbe Schrift über

noch eine Kleinigkeit. Pack jetzt die schlüpfte in eine bequeme Hose und ein
Tasse aus und halte dich gut an die T-shirt, während auf dem Bildschirm ein
Anweisungen. Wenn du fertig bist, klicke neuer Countdown runter lief. Die Sonne
auf “Weiter”. begann schon langsam unterzugehen,
als dey die Haustür öffnete und das
Nicky schnalzte mit der Zunge und Paket sah. Es lag einfach so, ganz allein,
wickelte die Tasse aus dem Papier. Erst auf dem Fußweg vor deren Haus; groß,
jetzt erkannte dey, dass dort Markierungen bunt eingewickelt, und mit einem Ballon,
vorgenommen waren: Striche und auch auf dem “Zum Geburtstag!” stand. In

Sobald Nicky überwältigt lachend deren eigene Webcam und Mikro an schaltete, begannen alle, laut und leicht asynchron, aber darum umso enthusiastischer ein Ständchen zu singen. Nicky strengte sich an, nicht allzu gerührt zu wirken, und versagte kläglich. Aber das war natürlich vollkommen egal, schließlich waren das hier alles deren Freunde: Nicky konnte ganz dey selbst sein. 20 SATURA
