I interpret miscellaneity as the production of differ-
ence and so it requires constraint to become mean-
ingful. What is interesting about Enquire Within
is that many of the more familiar constraints are
not present. Miscellaneity can be understood as a
disruptive threat to textual unity and its apparent
randomness an unsettling reminder that texts are
portable and iterable, able to take on new meanings
wherever they are found. Taking Enquire Within as
an example I want to focus on these new meanings.
To attend to miscellaneity, I argue, is to learn the
generative power of togetherness.
