HOW EVERYTHING BEGAN ...

ELEKTRIZITÄT IM KULM HOTEL
Im Jahr 1878 besucht Johannes Badrutt die Weltausstellung
in Paris. Zu den Attraktionen, die er sieht, gehören ein
grosses Aquarium, ein mächtiger Fesselballon und der Kopf
der Freiheitsstatue von Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi – und
er sieht zum ersten Mal elektrisches Licht. Das sollte auch
in seinem Hotel brennen! Und so leuchtete 1879 im Grand
Restaurant des Kulm Hotels das erste elektrische Licht der

Johannes Badrutt rund 11’000 Franken – eine für jene Zeit ansehnliche
