Liebe Gemeindeglieder und Freunde,
am 9. Juni feiern wir Taufe und Konfirmation in einem zweisprachigen
Gottesdienst um 10 Uhr. Roya Stadler wird getauft und dann zusammen
mit Harry Murphy konfirmiert. Die Gemeinde ist eingeladen,
mitzufeiern. Die beiden hatten ihren Konfirmandenunterricht mit
Pfarrer Klaus Gress praktisch und anschaulich im Kirchenraum. Pastor
erklärte die Inhalte des Glaubens am Taufstein und mit den schönen
Gemälden. Nun freuen sie sich auf ihren besonderen Tag.
Dear members and friends, on 9 June we will celebrate the baptism of
Roya Stadler and her confirmation together with Harry Murphy. We

will have a combined service at 10 am. The whole congregation is invited.
Confirmation classes were held in the sanctuary in a very practical and
concrete way. Pastor explained the catechism at the baptismal font and
by looking at the beautiful paintings. Now we are looking forward to
having a wonderful day.

Looking back, I would like to say thank you to five wonderful musicians
performing “Baroque Fever” chamber concert on 19 May. Especially
for this event we've had our combined service at noon followed by a
lunch with food donated by a catering team. We've rented out space to
a TV company and they had their meals in our fellowship hall. John
Murphy, Christel and Pastor took care, that everything went well.
That's how we are kept busy.
Ein großes Dankeschön gilt den fünf Musikantinnen des “Barock Fieber”
Konzerts am 19. Mai. Speziell für diesen Sonntag hatten wir einen
zweisprachigen Gottesdienst um Mittag mit anschließendem
Mittagessen. Das Essen hatten wir noch vom Catering Service einer TV
Show, die unseren Kirchenraum mietete, damit sich die Schauspieler
dort aufhalten konnten. John Murphy, Christel und Pastor haben sich
darum gekümmert, dass alles gut lief. So sind wir beschäftigt.

Pastor Klaus Gress war Gast des Bischofs Donald McCoid auf der Metro
New York Synode der ELCA (Evangelisch Lutherische Kirche von
Amerika).

Von Donnerstag bis Samstag (16. bis 18. Mai) trafen sich fast 500 Laien
und Pastoren in Tarrytown unter dem Thema “Sorge um die Schöpfung”.
Hauptaufgabe der Versammlung war die Wahl des neuen Bischofs. Und
Pastor Paul Egensteiner wurde am Ende deutlich gewählt. Unsere
Zionsgemeinde wurde bei der Begrüßung auf dem Bildschirm gezeigt und
Pastor Klaus Gress hielt eine kurze Dankesrede mit einem Gruß von
seinem Bischof July der Württembergischen Landeskirche. Es war ein
überwältigendes Gefühl des Willkommens auf der Synode für Pastor
Gress mit vielen netten Gesprächen.
Pastor was invited to the Metro NY Synod Assembly as a guest of
Interim Bishop Donald McCoid. From May 16th to 18th about 500 lay
people and clergy gathered for the annual meeting in Tarrytown under
the motto “Care for creation”. Our congregation was shown on the
screen during the welcoming ceremony with a photo of Pastor Klaus
Gress. Pastor did a thank- you-speech also with greetings from Bishop
Frank Otfried July of the Württembergische Landeskirche.

The main task was the election of
the new bishop, and well, we have
a new Bishop elect,
Pastor Paul Egensteiner. It was an
overwhelming experience of welcome
to Pastor Gress and getting to know
many fellow Lutherans.

Anzukündigen ist unsere Gemeindeversammlung am Sonntag, den 2.
Juni nach dem 10 Uhr Gottesdienst.
There will be a congregational meeting on Sunday, June 2nd after the
combined service which will begin at 10am.

Der Memorial Day gilt ja als Start des Sommers. Viele werden in den
Urlaub fahren, oder sich zu Hause erholen, vielleicht an einen der New

Yorker Strände gehen. Erholung tut gut für Leib, Seele und Geist. Das
kann auch beim Gottesdienstbesuch passieren. Wir haben im Sommer
zweisprachigen Gottesdienst um 10 Uhr bis nach dem Labor Day.
Somit erhoffen wir uns ein paar mehr Gottesdienstteilnehmer.
Memorial Day is kind of kick-off for Summer. People will enjoy their
vacation, do some traveling or go to a New York beach. It is good to
find some rest for body, soul and mind. This could also happen in a
service at Zion. During summer we will celebrate combined services at
10 am. Hopefully we will have more people in the pews.

During summer until Labor Day we celebrate combined services with
Holy Communion at 10am.
Im Sommer bis zum Labor Day feiern wir zweisprachigen
Gottesdienst mit Abendmahl um 10 Uhr.
We will march on 21 September with the Steubenparade. Details
