Foreword EHF President
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the EHF European League Women group phase
for the 2021/22 season.
Despite all the difficulties related to the pandemic last season, a vast majority of the games
could be played. I wish to express my gratitude to all clubs for their excellent cooperation.
The competition culminated in the excellent EHF Finals Women weekend in Baia Mare and
already the first season proved that the decision to reform our club competitions system in
the summer of 2020 was a step in the right direction. It is also pleasing that all group phase
matches will be streamed live on EHFTV and that fans will be able to return to the arenas and
create a real handball atmosphere on more and more occasions.
I am looking forward to the upcoming six rounds where an eclectic mix of teams will go head-
to-head as they fight for their places in the all-important knockout stages: the quarter-final
and ultimately the EHF Finals Women 2022.
Nine nations across the EHF are represented among the 16 competing teams, which gives
this season’s competition a hugely diverse combination of styles, further proof of what makes
this competition so captivating.
Defending champions Les Neptunes de Nantes will face fellow EHF Finals 2021 contenders,
and hosts, CS Minaur Baia Mare of Romania as well as German Bundesliga side SG BBM
Bietigheim in one group.
European club competition newcomers Motherson Mosonmagyarovari KC from Hungary face
Sola HK, the Norwegian team around one of the most decorated players of Norwegian
handball, Camilla Herrem, in another group.
Also, Lada, former winners of the EHF Cup and Cup Winners’ Cup and finalists of the EHF
Champions League, will take on two Scandinavian opponents: last season’s EHF Finals
participants Herning-Ikast Håndbold from Denmark as well as Storhamar Handball Elite from
Norway.
In the remaining group features one of the most decorated teams in European women’s
handball, multiple Champions League, EHF Cup and Cup Winners’ Cup trophy holders Viborg
HK, as well as recent DELO EHF Champions League contenders SCM Ramnicu Valcea.
I wish everyone associated with each team the very best of luck for the group phase matches.
The togetherness shown by everyone in the handball community has given us all real strength
and I hope that by the time we are able to celebrate the final weekend of this competition in
May, it will be in circumstances in which we can enjoy it all together and safely.

DUELL UM DEN GRUPPENSIEG
Erster gegen Zweiten. Deutschland gegen
Schweden. SC Magdeburg gegen IK Sävehof.
In der Gruppe C der EHF European League
wird es heiß. Die Schweden belegen nach
acht Spielen mit zwölf Punkten Platz zwei
hinter dem SCM (15). Das Hinspiel bei Säve-
hof gewann Grün-Rot mit 29:26 (11:11). Bei
noch zwei zu spielenden Partien geht es nun
bereits um den Gruppensieg, der dem SCM im
Achtelfinale den Vierten der Gruppe D (derzeit
Kadetten Schaffhausen) bescheren würde.
Dafür reicht dem SC Magdeburg am 1. März
spieler Göteborgs verpflichtete. Ende der

Andersson und Jonas Larholm hervor. Nach
einem kurzen Einbruch und einigen Jahren
in der Zweitklassigkeit stieg der Verein 2001

Der Club wurde am 20. August 1950 gegrün-
det. Lange Zeit stand Sävehof im Schatten
des großen Nachbarn Redbergslids IK, der die
Eliteserie dominierte und die besten Jugend-
