INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM: HUMAN RIGHTS AND DISABILITY
In the context of the Austrian Chairmanship of the Council of Europe, the Austrian
Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection and the Council of
Europe are organising a symposium on “Human Rights and Disability” in Vienna on
10 and 11 April 2014.
The aim of the symposium is to consider the political perspectives and the legal in-
struments on human rights of the Council of Europe and the United Nations, and their
importance for people with disabilities. The discussions will focus on participation in
the life of the community, particularly in employment and political affairs.
To ensure a broad exchange of views, the organisers have invited representatives
from the 47 Council of Europe member states and international organisations, ex-
perts, members of parliament, legal experts, ombudspersons and representatives of
civil society.
Please return the completed registration form by 10 March 2014 at the latest to
hrd-conference@bmask.gv.at.

The second expert panel and the exchange of views that will follow will focus on the
participation of people with disabilities in employment and political life. Panellists will
give accounts of real life experiences.
The aim of this panel is to illustrate the application of human rights in everyday life, and
in particular to discuss how to guarantee participation in employment and political life.

SYMPOSIUM INTERNATIONAL: DROITS DE L’HOMME ET HANDICAP
Dans le cadre de la présidence autrichienne du Conseil de l‘Europe, le Ministère fédé-
ral autrichien du travail, des affaires sociales et de la protection des consommateurs et
le Conseil de l‘Europe organisent le symposium « Droits de l’homme et handicap » les
10 et 11 avril 2014 à Vienne.
Le symposium se propose de présenter les perspectives politiques et les instruments
juridiques relatifs aux droits de l’homme du Conseil de l‘Europe et des Nations Unies
et de montrer leur importance pour les personnes handicapées. Les discussions por-
teront sur la participation à la société, en particulier dans le monde du travail et dans
la vie politique.
Pour permettre un large échange de vues, le symposium accueillera des représentant(e)
s des 47 Etats membres du Conseil de l‘Europe, d’organisations internationales, de
milieux universitaires, ainsi que des députés, des juristes, des médiateurs et des mem-
bres de la société civile.

en particulier sous l’angle de mesures visant à garantir la participation à l’emploi et à
la vie politique.

INTERNATIONALE FACHTAGUNG: MENSCHENRECHTE UND BEHINDERUNG
Im Rahmen der österreichischen Präsidentschaft des Europarates laden das öster-
reichische Bundesministerium für Arbeit, Soziales und Konsumentenschutz und der
Europarat zur Fachtagung „Menschenrechte und Behinderung“ am 10. und 11. April
2014 in Wien ein.
Ziel der Fachtagung ist es, die politischen Perspektiven sowie die rechtlichen Instru-
mente des Europarates und der Vereinten Nationen darzustellen und aufzuzeigen,
welche Bedeutung die Menschenrechte für Menschen mit Behinderungen haben.
Die Teilhabe am gesellschaftlichen Leben soll dabei insbesondere in der Arbeitswelt
und im politischen Leben diskutiert werden.
Um einen breiten Meinungsaustausch zu sichern, diskutieren auf der Fachtagung
Vertreterinnen und Vertreter der 47 Mitgliedsstaaten des Europarates, von interna-
tionalen Organisationen, der Wissenschaft, sowie Abgeordnete, Juristinnen und
Juristen, Ombudspersonen und die Zivilgesellschaft.
Um Rücksendung des ausgefüllten Anmeldeformulars bis spätestens 10. März 2014 an

Die Diskussion soll aufzeigen, was die Anwendung von Menschenrechten im täglichen
Leben bedeutet, insbesondere im Hinblick auf die Teilhabe in Beschäftigung und im
politischen Leben.
