Promoting stability, democracy and peace are shared values and interests of the EU
and the OSCE. Do the two organisations cooperate successfully in achieving these goals
when we look at the direct neighbourhood of the EU? Which role could they play in
solving the Ukraine crisis? How could relations with Russia be improved in a lasting
manner? Where, on the other hand, are best practice examples in peacemaking and de-
mocracy promotion in the Balkans region and which challenges are yet to be resolved?

Austria). However, independent media is a necessary condition of a well-functioning
democracy. But who can guarantee the right to press and media freedom?

Yoko Alender will share how she implemented an initiative on mindfulness in the Estoni-
an Parliament. She will talk about the challenges and the success factors of her journey as
well as the impact of mindfulness on politics in Europe and beyond.In case of bad weather
conditions, the session will take place at the "Hotel zur Post". Any changes of the venue to
"Hotel zur Post" will be marked in our online programme on the day before the hike.
