teaching and research initiative between the College of
Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in
Chicago and HafenCity University (HCU) in Hamburg.
Through this collaboration, we are contributing towards
research into urban life on the waterfronts of these twinned
cities while helping to shape the significant transformation of
the city, architecture and open spaces in both locations at the
interface of land and sea. “

from the fields of art, culture, science and business from the twinned cities
of Chicago and Hamburg, exploits the interrelations between experimental-
artistic and explorative-academic teaching and research to investigate the
(re)activation, use and settlement of urban water space. “
