Im Klettersteig kann es zu Situationen kommen, in denen es vonnöten ist,
von oben eine Seilsicherung einzurichten bzw. auch Quergänge auf diese
Weise zu sichern. Senkrechte, absturzgefährdete und extrem ausgesetzte
Stellen sind so zu sichern, dass es weder zu einem Sturz noch zu einem
Pendeln kommen kann. Meist sind es Kinder, unsichere Personen oder
gar leicht verletzte Personen, die es von oben, aus einem Standplatz,
nachzusichern gilt.
Als Standplatz wird eine sichere Verankerung gewählt, die Selbstsicherung
wird mit Bandschlinge und Verschlusskarabiner eingerichtet. Das
Nachsichern erfolgt dann mittels Seilstück (ca. 10 – 20 Meter lang, Knoten
in jedem Ende) und nachsicherungstauglichem Sicherungsgerät (z.B.
HMS-Karabiner, Alpin-Tuber oder bestenfalls einem halbautomatischen
Sicherungsgerät) von oben oder im Quergang. Der Gesicherte ist also
immer direkt am Seil und hat keine größeren Sturzhöhen zu befürchten.
Dieses Prinzip kann ohne weiteres als reines Toprope-System genutzt
werden wobei die Person unten direkt eingebunden ist. Diese Technik
bedarf grundsätzlich einer tiefer gehenden Ausbildung im Bereich der
Sicherungs- und Seiltechniken. Abläufe dieser Art müssen regelmäßig
geschult und fortgebildet werden – am besten in einer Klettersteigschule
oder Bergschule mit erfahrenen Bergführern!
There are certain situations in via ferrata climbing (traverses, for example)
where it is necessary to set up rope protection from above. Climbers
navigating vertical, fall-prone, and extremely exposed sections need to be

carabiner, tube-based alpine belay device, or ideally a semiautomatic belay
device) is then used for belaying from above or across on a traverse. This
ensures that the climber is directly connected to the rope and is protected
from large falls. This setup can also be easily used as a pure toprope
system, where the person is directly tied into the bottom of the rope. This
technique generally requires thorough training in belaying and rope safety
techniques. Regular training and refresher courses, ideally at a climbing or
mountaineering school with experienced mountain guides, are an absolute
must for methods such as these!
