BIOGRAPHY

               Bernhard Gander was born in Lienz, Austria in 1969. He studied piano, conducting and
               composition at the Tyrolean State Conservatory and was a student of the composer Beat Furrer
               at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. He has worked with Julio Estrada and
               Curtis Roads at the Studio UPIC; he also spent time at the Swiss Centre for Computer Music in
               Zurich.

               Gander was awarded the City of Vienna’s Prize for the Advancement of Music in 2004, the
               Austrian State Stipend for Composers in 2005 and 2007 and was the 2006 recipient of the Erste
               Bank Composition Award.

               He has been commissioned by Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, Wiener Konzerthaus,
               Steirischer Herbst, Austrian state broadcaster ORF, Klangspuren Schwaz, the Donaueschingen
               Festival, Wiener Festwochen, Musica Strasbourg, the Witten Contemporary Chamber
               Music Festival, the Munich Biennale, Burgtheater Wien, Bregenzer Festspiele, Ensemble
               Intercontemporain, Eclat Music Festival,...

BIOGRAPHIE

             Bernhard Gander wurde 1969 in Lienz/Osttirol geboren. Seine Musikstudien betrieb er am
             Tiroler Landeskonservatorium (Klavier, Tonsatz, Dirigieren) und an der Musikhochschule Graz
             (Komposition bei Beat Furrer). Ein Studienaufenthalt führte ihn ans Pariser Studio UPIC zu Julio
             Estrada und Curtis Roads. Es folgte ein Arbeitsaufenthalt am Schweizerischen Zentrum für
             Computermusik/Zürich.

             2004 erhielt Gander den Musikförderungspreis der Stadt Wien, 2006 den Erste-Bank-
             Kompositionsauftrag sowie 2005 und 2007 das Staatsstipendium für Komposition.

             Kompositionsaufträge erteilten ihm Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, Wiener Konzerthaus,
             Steirischer Herbst, ORF, Klangspuren Schwaz, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Wiener Festwochen,
             Musica Strasbourg, Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, Münchener Biennale, Burgtheater
             Wien, Bregenzer Festspiele, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Musikfestival Eclat,...
