Erste Lesung / First Reading Acts 16:25-34
About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns
to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there
was an earthquake, so violent that the foundations of the prison
were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and
everyone's chains were unfastened. When the jailer woke up and
7saw the prison doors wide open, he drew his sword and was about to
kill himself, since he supposed that the prisoners had escaped. But
Paul shouted in a loud voice, "Do not harm yourself, for we are all
here." The jailer called for lights, and rushing in, he fell down
trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them outside and
said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They answered, "Believe on
the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."
They spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his
house. At the same hour of the night he took them and washed their
wounds; then he and his entire family were baptized without delay.
He brought them up into the house and set food before them; and he
and his entire household rejoiced that he had become a believer in
God.

FOR THE ENGLISH-SPEAKING CONGREGATION
Coffee, Refreshments, and Fête de la Musique Fundraiser
Coffee/tea and simple cookies are offered as usual after worship today. Special
cakes, sausages and fruit will also be available to buy as part of the Fête de la
Musique joint fundraiser with the German-Speaking Congregation.
Thinking Together about the Change to Evening Worship
On Tuesday, 28 June, at 12h30 at the church (in the Gemeinderaum or the
garden), we will think together about possible opportunities provided by
changing our worship time to Sunday evening once per month, starting this
fall. What might best serve our community? What possibilities should we
explore? Some members of the worship committee will be present, and we
would be happy for others to come.
Confirmation Sunday - 3 July
Next Sunday, 3 July, four young people in our congregation will be confirmed
as part of the worship service: Louis Forman, Martha Herder, Ewa Kit, and
Simone Lange. These students have completed two years of preparation, and
the service is an important time to stand with them as they affirm their faith.
All are welcome and encouraged to attend!
Presentation on 3 July – “Ecumenical responses to the conflict in
Ukraine: Humanitarian action, dialogue and confrontation”
Following worship on Sunday, 3 July, Peter Prove, director of the World
Council of Churches Commission of the Churches on International Affairs will
offer a presentation on the war in Ukraine. The presentation will offer some
historical context for the conflict, information on how the WCC is responding,
and reports from Peter’s recent visits to the region, accompanying churches in
their humanitarian responses. All are welcome to join.
Summer Bible Study - Sundays Before Worship
Starting next Sunday, 3 July, there will be a weekly Bible study on Sunday
mornings at 10h00, led by Andy Willis and Judy Davis. We'll be looking at the
texts for worship, largely from the Gospel of Luke and the letter to the
Colossians. This will be a time for digging deeply into scripture and enjoying
one another's company. Most weeks we will meet in the gemeinderaum.
You're welcome to join as often as you like or to just drop in for a week when
you have time--all are welcome!
24Offering a Song or Piece of Music in Worship this Summer
Do you have a song or piece of music you'd like to share with the community
in worship? Members will be sharing musical offerings as part of Sunday
worship during the months of July and August. If you would like to
participate, please contact Regine Kummer: regine.kummer@gmail.com.
Church School Pause for the Summer
For the months of July and August, church school will pause. Weekly classes
on Sundays will resume in September. In the meantime, children are of course
always welcome in worship!
Serving Weekly Coffee Hour
Our congregation holds a simple coffee hour after worship in the church
garden each Sunday. Preparation for coffee hour is by neighborhood groups:

If you can help on a week when your group is assigned,
please let your group’s coordinator know.
