Lebensqualität trotz Allergie
Allergien nehmen in allen industrialisierten Ländern
dramatisch zu. In Europa sind inzwischen etwa 35
Prozent der Bevölkerung betroffen. Es ist davon aus-
zugehen, dass im Jahr 2020 jeder Zweite an einer
Allergie leidet. Allergien beeinträchtigen nicht nur die
Lebensqualität, sondern auch die Leistungsfähigkeit
wie bei einer schweren Erkältung. Nur ein Zehntel der
Betroffenen wird medizinisch korrekt behandelt. Eine
unbehandelte Allergie kann zu einer Leistungsminde-
rung des Langzeitgedächtnisses von 30 Prozent führen
mit gravierenden Folgen für Beruftstätige, aber auch
Schüler und Studenten. Durch allergiebedingte Beein-
trächtigungen entstehen der europäischen Wirtschaft
vermeidbare Kosten von geschätzten 100 Milliarden
Euro im Jahr. Daher ist es eine vordringliche Aufgabe,
die Situation sowohl für Allergiker als auch für die Gesell-
schaft insgesamt zu verbessern. Hierfür engagiert sich die
gemeinnützige Europäische Stiftung für Allergieforschung ECARF unterstützt die allergologische Forschung
(ECARF). Die europaweit tätige Stiftung wurde im Jahr ECARF supports research in allergology

ECARF-Qualitätssiegel für
allergikerfreundliche Produkte
und Dienstleistungen
Allergikerfreundliche Produkte und Dienstleistungen
zeichnet die Europäische Stiftung für Allergieforschung
(ECARF) mit dem ECARF-Qualitätssiegel aus. Das Siegel
kennzeichnet Alltagsprodukte und steht für geprüfte
Qualität. ECARF vergibt das Siegel europaweit auf der
Grundlage wissenschaftlich geprüfter Kriterien. Es bietet
Allergikern pragmatische Lösungen zur deutlichen
Reduzierung von Allergenen und Reizstoffen im Alltag.

Produkte und Dienstleistungen werden dann als aller-
gikerfreundlich mit dem Siegel ausgezeichnet, wenn
sie das Leben von Allergikern nachweislich erleichtern
oder verbessern. Zur Überprüfung der Produktqualität
werden regelmäßig Kontrollen vorgenommen.
Lebensmittel, Kosmetik, Luftreiniger, Hotels oder auch
ganze Ortschaften können das ECARF-Qualitätssiegel
erhalten.
Das ECARF-Qualitätssiegel wird für die Dauer von zwei 2
Jahren vergeben. Die Gültigkeit kann jeweils um weitere
zwei Jahre verlängert werden, wenn die Voraussetzungen
unverändert geblieben sind.
Da sich Allergene aus dem alltäglichen Leben nicht voll- 3
ständig ausschließen lassen, kann das ECARF-Qualitäts-
siegel jedoch keine Symptomfreiheit garantieren.

ECARF Seal of Quality
for allergy-friendly products
and services
The European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation
(ECARF) designates allergy-friendly products and
services with the ECARF Seal of Quality. The ECARF
Seal is awarded to products for use in everyday life,
and it signifies tested quality. ECARF awards the seal
Europe-wide according to scientifically determined
criteria. It offers allergy sufferers practical solutions that
significantly reduce contact with allergens and allergy
6 triggers in everyday life.
Products and services are labelled "allergy-friendly"
with the ECARF Seal if they are shown to improve and
simplify life for allergy sufferers. To ensure consistent
quality, products and services are monitored on a
regular basis.
Food products, cosmetics, air filters, hotels and even
entire communities can be designated with the ECARF

The ECARF Seal of Quality is awarded for a period of
two years. It can be extended for a further two years if
conditions remain unchanged.
Allergens can never be completely eliminated from
everyday life, so the ECARF Seal of Quality cannot
guarantee complete allergen elimination.
