Sehr geehrte Kundin, sehr geehrter Kunde,
Sie haben sich für unser Produkt entschieden und wir möchten uns für das entgegengebrachte Vertrauen bedanken. Da-
mit die Handhabung Ihres neuen Produktes für Sie und den Nutzer sicher, praktisch und komfortabel ist, lesen Sie bitte
zuerst diese Gebrauchsanweisung. So können Sie Beschädigungen und Bedienungsfehler vermeiden. Sorgen Sie bitte
dafür, dass diese Gebrauchsanweisung beim Produkt verbleibt und jedem Nutzer zur Verfügung steht.
Diese Gebrauchsanweisung ist eine Ergänzung zu der originalen RECARO Gebrauchsanweisung. Durch die Modifika-
tion zum Reha-Autositz ändert sich die Handhabung des Autositzes in einigen Punkten. Die Änderungen sind in dieser
ergänzenden Gebrauchsanweisung beschrieben.
Bei Fragen wenden Sie sich bitte an Ihren zuständigen Fachhandel oder direkt an uns.

Hinweise
Allgemeine Hinweise
• Lesen Sie sich vor Erstgebrauch die Gebrauchsanweisung sorgfältig durch oder lassen Sie sich diese bei Leseschwie-
rigkeiten vorlesen. Sollte die Gebrauchsanweisung fehlen, können Sie sich diese auf www.thomashilfen.de herunterla-
den. Die Inhalte der digitalen Gebrauchsanweisung können vergrößert dargestellt werden.
• Prüfen Sie die Verpackung auf Transportschäden und ob das Produkt in einwandfreiem Zustand ist.
• Veränderungen am Produkt sind nur im Rahmen der vorgesehenen Einstellmöglichkeiten zulässig.
• Reinigung und Pflege im Alltag kann von Angehörigen und Betreuern durchgeführt werden. Wartung und Inspektion
erfolgen durch den Fachhandel.
• In einigen Ländern ist es erforderlich, eine ärztliche Bescheinigung mitzuführen.
• Der Reha Autositz kann auf einem der hinteren Sitze sowie dem Beifahrersitz genutzt werden. Der gewählte Fahr-
zeugsitz MUSS vorwärtsgerichtet sein.
• Alle Kennzeichnungen müssen am Produkt verbleiben und dürfen nicht manipuliert werden.
Sicherheitshinweise
• Kontrollieren Sie mindestens alle 3 Monate, ob die Einstellungen des Produktes noch zu den aktuellen Körpermaßen
des Nutzers passen. Lassen Sie ggf. durch einen Fachhändler / Orthopädietechniker die Einstellungen anpassen.
• Kontrollieren Sie regelmäßig (wöchentlich) die Funktionsfähigkeit der Einstellmöglichkeiten am Produkt.
• Bitte überlasten Sie das Produkt nicht und beachten Sie das maximale Nutzergewicht bzw. die maximale Belastbar-
keit (siehe technische Daten).
• Nutzer bitte nie unbeaufsichtigt mit dem Produkt alleine lassen.
• Das Produkt darf nur von einem Nutzer zur Zeit verwendet werden. Es dürfen keine weiteren Personen im oder auf
dem Produkt platziert werden.
• Alle Anwender müssen in die Funktionen des Produktes eingewiesen sein. So kann im Notfall der Nutzer zügig aus
dem Produkt befreit werden.
• Lassen Sie den Nutzer beim Ein- und Aussteigen in oder aus dem Produkt nicht unbeaufsichtigt. Bei zu starker Belas-
tung der Fußstütze besteht die Gefahr des Abrutschens oder des Kippens.
• Der Nutzer sollte immer mit dem 5-Punkt-Positionierungsgurt (Grundausstattung) positioniert sein. Sitz und Nutzer
müssen immer mit dem 3-Punkt-Sicherheitsgurt des Fahrzeugs gesichert sein.
• Bei starker Sonneneinstrahlung und Hitze kann es zu hohen Oberflächentemperaturen am Produkt kommen. Dann
besteht Verletzungsgefahr bei Berührung. Nutzen Sie das Produkt erst wieder, wenn es ausreichend abgekühlt ist.
Schützen Sie das Produkt allgemein vor direkter Sonneneinstrahlung.
• Bitte beachten Sie die für Ihr Fahrzeug geltenden Sicherheitsnormen in der Gebrauchsanweisung des Fahrzeugs, um
die Sicherheit des Nutzers zu gewährleisten.
• Die Gebrauchsanweisung muss am Produkt verbleiben.
• Sollte es wider Erwarten zu einem schwerwiegenden Vorfall mit dem Produkt kommen, melden Sie dies bitte unver-
züglich unserem Unternehmen und der zuständigen Behörde.

Zweckbestimmung
Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung / Anwendungsbereiche
Der Reha-Autositz RECARO Sport HERO Reha ist ein Medizinprodukt der Klasse 1.
Er ist konzipiert für die behindertengerechte Beförderung und zur Einhaltung einer gesicherten Sitzposition von Kin-
dern in Kraftfahrzeugen. Die Sicherung des Sitzes erfolgt immer mit dem fahrzeugeigenen 3-Punkt-Sicherheitsgurt. Der
5-Punkt-Gurt des Reha-Autositzes dient der Positionierung und Unterstützung einer aufrechten Sitzposition des Kindes.
Zudem verfügt der Reha-Autositz über eine integrierte Sitzkantelung.
Der Reha-Autositz sorgt für zusätzlichen Halt beim sicheren Sitzen, Stabilisierung der Kopfkontrolle und stabilen Sitz im
Beckenbereich, sowie eine Abstützung im Fußbereich. Zusätzlich bietet das Produkt umfangreiches Zubehör zur indivi-
duellen Anpassung.
Eine andere oder darüber hinausgehende Verwendung gilt als nicht bestimmungsgemäß.
Indikation / Patientenzielgruppe, vorgesehene Anwender
Der Reha-Autositz wird eingesetzt bei Kindern mit strukturellen und / oder funktionellen Einschränkungen oder Fehlhal-
tungen im Kopf- und Rumpfbereich. Er sorgt für eine stabile und physiologische Positionierung, wenn ein handelsübli-
cher Kinderautositz nicht ausreichend ist für eine stabile Sitzhaltung im Fahrzeug.
Anwendungsrisiken und Kontraindikationen
Bei sachgerechtem Gebrauch können Risiken bei der Anwendung ausgeschlossen werden. Kontraindikationen sind nicht
bekannt.
Produktbeschreibung
Lieferumfang
Ihr Produkt wird in der Grundausstattung vormontiert geliefert. Das eventuell mitbestellte Zubehör liegt dem Produkt
bei und muss nachträglich montiert werden. Dem Produkt liegt eine Gebrauchsanweisung bei.
Grundausstattung
Sitz und Rücken mit 4-fach höhenverstellbarer Kopfstütze; integrierter 5-Punkt-Gurt mit Zentralversteller; höhenverstell-
barer Schultergurt mit HERO Gurtpolster-System inkl. Gurtschildpolster (klein); extra breite, seitliche Energieabsorber
(ASP); Tragegriff; einstellbare Ruheposition; abnehmbare Kopf-, Thorax- und Sitzseitenpelotten; abnehmbare Bezüge
Inbetriebnahme
• Entfernen Sie sorgsam die Transportsicherungen und die Verpackungen.
• Achten Sie darauf, dass Verpackungsmaterial und Kleinteile nicht in die Hände von Kindern gelangen können, um ein
Verschlucken bzw. die Gefahr des Erstickens zu vermeiden.
Gebrauchsschulung
Der Anwender wird vom autorisierten Fachpersonal unter Hinzunahme dieser Gebrauchsanweisung in den Gebrauch
dieses Hilfsmittels eingewiesen.
Der Fachberater sollte den Sitz gemeinsam mit dem Anwender in das Fahrzeug einbauen und den Sitz auf die jeweili-
gen Maße des aktuellen Nutzers einstellen.
Es ist sicherzustellen, dass der Anwender in alle Funktionen des Produktes sowie den Ein- und Ausbau aus dem Fahr-
zeug eingewiesen ist.

Einstellmöglichkeiten / Leistungsmerkmale
Bitte beachten Sie:
Der im Kindersitz integrierte 5-Punkt-Sicherheitsgurt ist nur zur Verwendung in ECE Gruppe I (bis 18 kg) bestimmt. Vor-
aussetzung ist, dass der Kinder-Autositz zuvor mit dem im Fahrzeug befindlichen 3-Punkt-Gurt gesichert wurde.
Der Kinder-Autositz RECARO Sport HERO Reha hat auf Basis der ECE R 44/04 Anforderungen einen Belastungstest bei
der Dekra (Dresden) erfolgreich bestanden. Der RECARO Sport HERO Reha ist damit als Rückhalteeinrichtung für spezi-
elle Anforderungen „S“ zugelassen.
Für ECE Gruppe II-III (18–36 kg):
Im Rahmen dieses Tests wurde bestätigt, dass der 5-Punkt-Gurt für Kinder über 18 kg Körpergewicht als zusätzlicher
Positionierungsgurt eingesetzt werden kann. Sichern Sie Ihr Kind in diesem Fall IMMER mit dem im Fahrzeug befindli-
chen 3-Punkt-Sicherheitsgurt und beachten Sie hierbei die Hinweise zur korrekten Installation gemäß der original RECA-
RO Montage- und Gebrauchsanleitung.
Der im Kindersitz integrierte 5-Punkt-Positionierungsgurt ist NICHT sicherheitsrelevant. Die Rückhaltung des Kindes
erfolgt in diesem Fall durch den 3-Punkt-Gurt des Fahrzeuges, der 5-Punkt-Gurt ist für Kinder mit 18 bis 36 kg Körper-
gewicht nur als Positionierungsgurt zur zusätzlichen Unterstützung vorgesehen.
Damit der RECARO Sport HERO Reha möglichst lange von Ihrem Kind genutzt werden kann, kann das 5-Punkt-Gurt-
system inklusive des Umlenkrohres ausgebaut werden. Beachten Sie hierzu bitte die Hinweise in der original RECARO
Montage- und Gebrauchsanleitung. Soll auch für große Kinder ein 5-Punkt-Positionierungsgurt genutzt werden, empfeh-
len wir den Einsatz unserer Gurtverlängerung.
5-Punkt-Gurt
Weitere Informationen zur Gurtnutzung finden Sie in der dem Sitz beiliegenden RECARO Gebrauchsanweisung.
Änderung der Gurtlänge:
Heben Sie das Sitzpolster leicht an und lösen sie die Stofflasche mittels Klettverschluss. Nun sehen Sie den in die Sitz-
schale eingelassenen Gurtzentralversteller. Um die Gurtlänge zu ändern, drücken Sie den Hebel herunter und stellen
den Gurt mittels Ziehen am unten hängenden Gurtband (Verkürzen) oder durch nach vorne Ziehen der beiden Gurte
(Verlängern) ein.

Gurtverschluss:
Drücken Sie zum Öffnen auf die rote Vertiefung des Verschlusses. Trennen Sie danach die beiden oberen Gurthalterun-
gen. Zum Schließen des Gurtes führen Sie die beiden oberen Gurthalterungen wieder zusammen, stecken diese oben in
den Verschluss und drücken diesen zusammen, bis er mit einem hörbaren „Klick“ einrastet.

Kopfpelotte
Ziehen Sie die Bezüge der Pelotten möglichst straff über die Seitenteile der Kopfstütze und befestigen Sie diese oben an
den Schrauben.

Thoraxpelotte
Zum Anbringen der Thoraxpelotte positionieren Sie diese lose im Sitz und führen dann die beiden Klettverschlussbän-
der hinter das Rückenpolster. Kletten Sie die Bänder hinter dem Polster zusammen.

Sitz-Seitenpelotte
Der RECARO Sport HERO Reha ist mit einem Sitzverkleinerer ausgestattet. An diesem Sitzverkleinerer werden die
Sitz-Seitenpelotten angebracht. Ziehen Sie hierzu die Sitz-Seitenpelotten jeweils über die Seitenteile des Sitzverkleine-
rers. Kletten Sie dann die Sitz-Seitenpelotten auf der Außenseite des Sitzverkleinerers an.

Hinweis: Informationen zur Montage finden Sie in der jeweiligen Gebrauchsanweisung, die dem Zubehör direkt bei-
liegt. Sollte die Gebrauchsanweisung fehlen, können Sie sich diese auf www.thomashilfen.de herunterladen. Die Monta-
ge / Demontage des Zubehörs erfolgt mit handelsüblichem Werkzeug.
Adapterplatte (Abb. 11)
Die Adapterplatte ist Voraussetzung für die Nutzung von weiterem Zubehör. Dieses wird vorne an der Sitzfläche des
Reha-Autositzes angebracht.
Säubern Sie vor dem Anbringen die Kunstofffläche an der Unterseite des Sitzes mit handelsüblichen Mitteln (z.B. Was-
ser und Spülmittel), bis sie vollkommen fettfrei ist.
Lösen Sie nun die Klettstreifen (Flausch) von der Adapterplatte ab und bringen Sie diese unterhalb des Sitzes an. Die
Klettstreifen (Haken) verbleiben auf der Adapterplatte.

Positionieren Sie den Sitz nun bündig im 90° Winkel vorne am Adapter (Griff des Adapters zeigt nach vorne) und kip-
pen Sie den Sitz auf die Adapterplatte, sodass die Sitzfläche festgeklettet ist.

Drehplatte mit Adapter (Abb. 14)
Mit der Drehfunktion kann der Reha-Autositz zur Fahrzeugtür gedreht werden. Für Betreuer wird der Transfer des
Nutzers und der Zugang zum 5-Punkt-Positionierungsgurt des Sitzes erleichtert. Für den Nutzer wird das selbstständige
Ein- und Aussteigen einfacher. An dem Adapter kann gleichzeitig weiteres Zubehör vorne am Reha-Autositz angebracht
werden.
Seatfix-Adapter (Abb. 15)
Mit dem Seatfix-Adapter lässt sich ISOFIX im Fahrzeug nutzen und damit die Stabilität des Reha-Autositzes erhöhen. Die
zusätzliche Stabilisierung wird besonders benötigt, wenn zusätzlich eine Drehfunktion (und/ oder Neigungsfunktion)
genutzt wird. Ebenso sichert der Seatfix-Adapter den leeren Sitz im Fahrzeug.
Stabilisierungsbügel (Abb. 16)
Der Stabilisierungsbügel wird hinten am Reha-Autositz angebracht und in den Spalt zwischen Sitzfläche und Rückenleh-
ne des Fahrzeugsitzes geschoben. Er ist geeignet, wenn kein ISOFIX genutzt werden kann. Die zusätzliche Stabilisierung
wird besonders benötigt, wenn zusätzlich eine Drehfunktion (und/ oder Neigungsfunktion) genutzt wird.
Stützfuß (Abb. 17)
Der Stützfuß sorgt für die Stabilisierung des Reha-Autositzes. Die zusätzliche Stabilisierung wird besonders benötigt,

Fußstütze (Abb. 18)
Mit der Fußstütze sitzt der Nutzer stabil im Reha-Autositz, da er die Beine fest abstützen kann. Das Hinausrutschen aus
dem Sitz nach unten auf den Fahrzeugboden wird verhindert. Die Fußstütze ist abklappbar, um das Ein- und Aussteigen
zu erleichtern. Mit der Fußstütze kann das selbstständige Ein- und Aussteigen aus dem Sitz trainiert werden.
Schieben Sie die Rohre der Fußstütze vorne in den Adapter. Drücken Sie hierzu die Rastfeder an der Fußstütze ein. Si-
chern Sie die Fußstütze grundsätzlich mit der Sternschraube am linken Rohr des Fußstützenadapters gegen Herausfallen.
Mehrere Löcher in den Fußstützenrohren ermöglichen eine Anpassung an die Tiefe Ihres Fahrzeugsitzes.

Zur Stabilisierung der Fußstütze am Fahrzeugboden passen Sie die Höhe der Stützstangen durch Herein- bzw. Heraus-
drehen so an, dass die Stangen Bodenkontakt zu Ihrem Fahrzeug haben. Kontern Sie anschließend die Stützstangen
durch die Sterngriffe, um ein unbeabsichtigtes Herausdrehen zu verhindern. Drehen Sie hierzu die Sterngriff-Schrauben
so weit wie möglich nach oben und ziehen sie fest an.

Unterschenkellänge:
Das Einstellen der Unterschenkellänge erfolgt über die Höhenverstellung der Fußstütze. Hierzu lösen Sie die beiden
äußeren Inbus-Schrauben und ziehen Sie diese anschließend wieder ausreichend fest. Zum Erreichen der höchstmög-
lichen Position verwenden Sie den beiliegenden Erhöhungsblock (+ 10 cm). Er wird über eine Klettverbindung auf der
Fußstütze mittig fixiert.
Fußwinkel:
Lösen Sie rechts und links an der Unterseite der Fußstütze die vier Schrauben, um den gewünschten Fußwinkel über die
Schienen einzustellen. Ziehen Sie anschließend die Schrauben wieder fest.
Erhöhungsblock für Fußstütze (Abb. 21)
Der Erhöhungsblock für die Fußstütze verringert die benötigte Unterschenkellänge, wenn die Beine des Nutzers nicht
lang genug sind.
Sitzkeil, unten (Abb. 22)
Der Sitzkeil (unten) wird auf den Fahrzeugsitz unter den Reha-Autositz gelegt, um eine Sitzkantelung zu erreichen. Die
Neigung des Sitzes nach hinten wird genutzt für Kinder mit wenig Körperspannung und / oder schwacher Kopfkontrolle.
Der Sitzkeil wird unter dem Autositz mittig positioniert. Die hohe Kante befindet sich vorne, um eine optimale Ruhepo-
sition für das Kind zu erreichen.
Achtung: Eine Verwendung des Sitzkeils zusammen mit der Drehplatte schränkt deren Funktion deutlich ein. Wir emp-
fehlen deshalb keine gleichzeitige Verwendung von Sitzkeil und Drehplatte.

Unterarmauflage (Abb. 25)
Die Unterarmauflage wird vor dem Bauch des Nutzers angebracht. Sie gibt dem Nutzer Stabilität und Sicherheit, der
Nutzer kann sich auf sie stützen und besser aufrecht halten. Als Sichtbarriere zum Gurtschloss lenkt sie vom Abschnal-
len ab und der Nutzer kann die Oberfläche für Aktivitäten nutzen.
Montieren Sie zuerst die Seitenteile der Unterarmauflage, indem Sie diese auf die runden Eckpunkte des Sitzes ziehen.
Die Seite mit dem längeren Stoff muss dabei jeweils nach außen zeigen. Befestigen Sie den Stoff an den Sitzverstellungs-
rädern mit den dafür vorgesehenen Öffnungen im Bezug der Seitenteile. Nach unten überstehender Stoff wird nun unter
das Sitzpolster geklemmt.

Befestigen Sie anschließend die Unterarmauflage auf den Klettstreifen der Seitenteile. Führen Sie danach den Gurt
außen hinter dem Rücken des Sitzes seitlich wieder nach vorne und befestigen Sie ihn am Klett (Flausch) der Unterar-
mauflage.

Hinweis: Bei Nutzung der Unterarmauflage sollte aus Platzgründen das Gurtschildpolster entfernt werden.

Gurtschildpolster (Abb. 28)
Das Gurtschildpolster wird unter dem Gurtschloss des 5-Punkt-Gurtes des Reha-Autositzes angebracht. Es schützt den
Nutzer vor unangenehmem Druck des Gurtschlosses auf den Bauch und federt Bewegung und Druck im Schrittbereich
ab.
Gurt-Softpolster (Abb. 29)
Die Gurt-Softpolster schützen den Nutzer im Schulterbereich vor schmerzhaftem Druck und Einschneiden der Gurte.
Gurtverlängerung (Abb. 30)
Die Gurtverlängerung wird ggf. bei größeren Nutzern benötigt, damit der Gurt weiterhin passt.
Nur für ECE-Gruppe II + III, 18 - 36 kg.
Anti-Escape-Weste (Abb. 31)
Die Anti-Escape-Weste verhindert, dass das Kind sich aus dem Gurt des Autositzes herauswinden kann. Gefährliche
Lücken zwischen Gurt und Kind werden verdeckt, die das Kind sonst nutzt, um den Gurt von den Schultern zu streifen.
Autositzschutz mit Rücken (Abb. 32)
Der Autositzschutz liegt unter dem Kinderautositz auf dem Fahrzeugsitz und der Rückenlehne. Er schützt Sitzfläche und
Rückenlehne des Fahrzeugsitzes vor Beschädigungen. In den vorderen Taschen können kleine Gegenstände verstaut
werden.

Reinigung, Instandhaltung und Reparatur
Reinigung, Pflegehinweise und Desinfektion im Alltag
Polster
Die Polster sind mit wenigen Handgriffen leicht abzunehmen und können separat gewaschen werden. Sie bestehen aus
einem Stoffbezug und ggf. Einlegern aus Schaumstoff. Prüfen Sie, ob das Polster einen Reißverschluss oder Klettver-
schluss hat. Wenn ja, öffnen Sie das Polster und entnehmen Sie vor dem Waschen ggf. den Einleger aus Schaumstoff.
Bitte beachten Sie auch die folgenden Pflegehinweise.
RECARO Prime:
Trevira CS:
Wir weisen darauf hin, dass auch hochwertige Stoffe durch dauerhafte und intensive Sonneneinstrahlung oder häufiges
Waschen ausbleichen können.
Klettverschlüsse
Um die Funktionsfähigkeit der Klettverschlüsse zu erhalten, die Klettbänder mit einer Bürste ab und zu abbürsten. Beim
Waschen die Klettbänder immer schließen bzw. abdecken.
Kunststoffteile
Kunststoffteile am Produkt können mit handelsüblichen Seifen (Neutralseife) gereinigt und desinfiziert werden.
Metallteile
Metallteile am Produkt können mit handelsüblichen Seifen (Neutralseife) gereinigt und desinfiziert werden.
Desinfektion
Reinigen Sie vor der Desinfektion die Polster, Kunststoffteile und Metallteile.
Wischen Sie alle Kunststoff- und Metallteile des Produktes mit Desinfektionsmittel feucht ab. Es sollten ausschließlich
Mittel auf Wasserbasis verwendet werden. Bei der Desinfektion sind die Anwendungshinweise des entsprechenden Her-
stellers zu beachten.
Wartung und Inspektion durch den Fachhandel
Vorbereitung
Eine Gebrauchsanweisung muss dem Produkt beiliegen. Sollte keine vorhanden sein, fordern Sie diese beim Hersteller
an. Machen Sie sich mit den Funktionen des Produktes vertraut. Sollten Sie das Produkt nicht kennen, lesen Sie vor
der Prüfung die Gebrauchsanweisung. Reinigen Sie das Produkt vor Prüfbeginn. Beachten Sie die in der Gebrauchsan-
weisung enthaltenen Pflegehinweise und produktspezifische Prüfanweisungen. Bei weiteren Fragen kontaktieren Ihren
eingewiesenen Fachberater oder direkt Thomashilfen.
Service und Reparaturen am Produkt dürfen nur von Fachpersonal durchgeführt werden. Der Benutzer dieses Produktes
hat darauf zu achten, dass die vorgeschriebenen Inspektionen / Wartungen regelmäßig und rechtzeitig erfolgen. Ist ein
Schaden erkennbar, muss der Nutzer aktiv informieren und den Schaden sofort durch Fachpersonal beheben lassen.

Lagerung
Bewahren Sie das Produkt an einem sicheren Ort auf, wenn es nicht genutzt wird. Stellen und legen Sie während der
Lagerung keine schweren Objekte auf das Produkt. Schützen Sie das Produkt vor Witterungseinflüssen wie Regen,
starker Sonneneinstrahlung und Frost. Sollte das Produkt nass sein, wischen Sie Metall- und Kunststoffteile trocken und
trocknen Sie die Polster, bevor Sie das Produkt einlagern.
Entsorgung
Ist das Produkt aufgrund seines Zustandes nicht mehr verwendungsfähig oder hat das Ende der Lebensdauer erreicht,
kann es beim örtlich zuständigen Entsorgungsunternehmen recycelt werden. Bitte beachten Sie hierbei die vor Ort gel-
tenden Bestimmungen zu Recycling und Entsorgung.

Gewährleistung
Thomashilfen bietet Ihnen für dieses Produkt die zweijährige gesetzliche Gewährleistung. Die Frist beginnt mit dem
Zeitpunkt der Übergabe der Ware. Die Gewährleistung umfasst alle Ansprüche, die die Funktion beeinträchtigen.
Ausgenommen sind Schäden, die durch unsachgemäßen Gebrauch (z. B. Überbelastung), sowie natürlichen Verschleiß
entstehen.
Nutzungsdauer
Das Produkt hat eine Nutzungsdauer von bis zu 6 Jahren bei fachgerechter und regelmäßiger Wartung auf Grundlage
der Herstellerangaben. Das Produkt kann über diesen Zeitraum hinaus verwendet werden, wenn es sich in einem siche-
ren und technisch einwandfreien Zustand befindet.
Die theoretische Nutzungsdauer ist keine garantierte Nutzungsdauer. Sie ist abhängig von der Nutzungsintensität und
unterliegt immer einer Einzelfallprüfung durch den Fachhandel.
Die Nutzungsdauer endet vor dem angegebenen Zeitraum, wenn der Nutzer das maximale Körpergewicht oder die
maximale Körpergröße für die sichere Verwendung des Produktes erreicht hat.
Die Nutzungsdauer bezieht sich nicht auf Verschleißteile wie Polster, Bezüge etc.
Lebensdauer
Das Produkt hat eine Lebensdauer von 8 Jahren, wenn die bei der Nutzungsdauer angegebenen Voraussetzungen erfüllt
sind. Die Lebensdauer setzt sich zusammen aus der Nutzungsdauer und Lagerungszeiten.
Wiedereinsatz
Das Produkt ist nicht für den Wiedereinsatz geeignet. Die Funktionstauglichkeit von Kinderautositzen kann bei einem
theoretischen Nutzerwechsel nicht sicher festgestellt werden. Es können nicht sichtbare Schäden am Produkt vorliegen,
welche die weitere sichere Verwendung ausschließen. Verkauf und Erwerb von gebrauchten Kinderautositzen ist daher
vom Hersteller ausgeschlossen.

General Remarks
• Read the Instructions for Use carefully before first use. If you have difficulty reading, please have them read to you.
If the copy of the Instructions for Use is missing, you can download one from www.thomashilfen.de. The contents of
the digital Instructions for Use can be enlarged.
• Check the packaging for any transport damage and to be sure the product is in flawless condition.
• Changes to the product are only permitted within the scope of the intended adjustment options.
• Cleaning and daily care can be provided by relatives and caregivers. Maintenance and inspection are done by the
distributor.
• In some countries it necessary to carry a medical certificate.
• The rehab car seat can be used on the back seats as well as on the front passenger seat. The chosen car seat MUST
face forward.
• All labels have to remain on the product and should not be tampered with.
Safety Instructions
• Check at least every 3 months that the settings on the product still work for the user’s current body measurements. If
need be, have a distributor / orthopaedic technician adjust the settings.
• Do regular (weekly) checks to make sure that the setting options on the product work.
• Please do not overload the product and note the maximum user weight and the maximum load capacity (see techni-
cal data).
• Never leave the user unattended with the product.
• The product should only be used by one user at a time. No other individuals should be placed in or on the product.
• All users have to be familiar with how the product works. This way in an emergency the user can be removed
quickly from the product.
• Do not leave the user unattended while they are getting into or out of the product. If there is too much pressure put
on the footrest, there is a risk of slipping or tipping.
• The user should always be positioned with the five-point positioning harness (standard equipment). The seat and the
user always have to be fastened with the vehicle’s own three-point seat belt.
• Intense sunlight and heat can lead to high surface temperatures on the product. As a result, there is a risk of injury
when touching the product. Only use the product once it has cooled down enough. In general, try to protect the
product from direct sunlight.
• Please note the safety standards which apply to your vehicle as outlined in the vehicle’s Instructions for Use to ensure
the safety of the user.
• The Instructions for Use have to remain with the product.
• If there is a serious and unexpected accident with the product, please inform our company immediately and the
responsible authorities.

Intended Purpose
Intended Use / Application Areas
The RECARO Sport HERO Reha rehab car seat is a class 1 medical device.
It is designed to safely transport the physically disabled and to ensure children are sitting securely in vehicles. The seat
is always fastened using the vehicle’s own three-point seat belt. The five-point positioning harness in the rehab car seat
helps to position and support the child in an upright sitting position. In addition, the rehab car seat has an integrated
seat tilt.
The rehab car seat provides additional support to help the passenger sit securely, stabilises head control, provides
secure seating for the hip area, and a footrest. In addition, the product has a wide range of accessories for customised
adjustments.
Any use that goes above and beyond this does not comply with the intended use.
Indication / Patient Target Group / Intended Users
The rehab car seat is for children with structural and / or functional limitations or poor head and torso posture. It pro-
vides a stable, physiological position if a standard child car seat does not securely support the child while seated in the
vehicle.
Risks Associated with Use and Contraindications
If used properly, risks can be eliminated during use. There are no known contraindications.

Your product is delivered with the standard equipment and comes preassembled. Any accessories ordered along with
the product are included and have to be assembled subsequently. A copy of the Instructions for Use is enclosed with
the product.

Putting into Service
• Carefully remove the transport protection and the packaging.
• Keep the packaging material and small parts out of the reach of children to prevent swallowing or choking.
Teaching the User
The user is taught how to use this device by trained staff who will reference these Instructions for Use.
Trained staff should install the seat in the vehicle with the user and adjust the seat to the measurements of the actual
user.
The user has to be shown all of product’s functions as well as how to install and remove it from the vehicle.

Adjustment Options / Features
Please note:
The 5-point safety belt integrated in the seat is intended for the use in ECE group I (up to 18 kg / 39.7 lb) only. This re-
quires that the seat must be secured with the vehicle’s 3-point belt before.
RECARO Sport HERO Reha has successfully passed an overload test at Dekra (Dresden) on the basis of the require-
ments of ECE R 44/04. Thus, the RECARO Sport HERO Reha is approved for the use as “restraint system for special
needs (“S”)”.
For use in ECE group II-III (18 kg/39.7 Ib up to 36 kg / 79.4 Ibs):
During the course of this test it was verified that the 5-point belt for children with a body weight of over 18 kg (39.7 lbs)
can be used as an additional positioning belt. In this case, ALWAYS secure your child using the vehicle’s 3-point safety
belt and observe the notes on correct installation contained in the original RECARO Instructions for Installation and Use.
The 5-point positioning belt integrated into the child seat is NOT a safety-relevant item. In this case the child is re-
strained by the vehicle’s 3-point safety belt. The 5-point belt is only intended for use as a positioning belt to provide
additional support for children with a body weight of between 18 and 36 kg (39.7 and 79.4 lbs).
To enable your child to use the RECARO Sport HERO Reha for the longest possible time, the 5-point belt system, includ-
ing the guide rail, can be removed. When removing the 5-point belt system please observe the notes contained in the
original RECARO Instructions for Installation and Use. If it is also intended to use a 5-point positioning belt for larger
children, we recommend the use of our belt extension.
5-point belt
For more information on the use of belts please consult the RECARO instructions for use provided with the seat.
Adjusting the belt length:
Slightly lift the seat cover and release the fabric flap by opening the hook and loop. Now you can see the central belt
adjuster in the seat shell. To change the belt length, press the lever down and adjust the belt by either pulling the strap
coming out of the front of the seat (shortening) or by pulling out both shoulder belts (lengthening).

Belt buckle:
Press the red dent of the buckle to open. Separate the two upper belt fasteners. To close the belt, bring the two upper
belt fasteners together, insert them into the buckle from above and push together until they lock in place with an audi-
ble „Click“.

Headrest
Pull the covers as tight as possible over the side parts of the headrest and attach them to the screws at the top.

Lateral trunk support
Attach the lateral trunk support by placing it on the seat. Guide both hook and loop strips behind the back cover and
hook and loop-fasten them behind the cover.

Lateral seat support
The RECARO Sport HERO Reha is fitted with a seat reducer. The lateral seat supports are fitted to this seat reducer. To
fit them, pull the lateral seat supports over each of the side sections of the seat reducer. Then hook and loop-fasten the
lateral seat supports to the outside of the seat reducer.

Remarks: Installation information is found in the Instructions for Use, which are enclosed with the accessory. If the copy
of the Instructions for Use is missing, you can download one from www.thomashilfen.de. The assembly / disassembly of
the accessories is done with standard tools.
Adapter plate (Fig. 11)
The adapter plate is needed to use another accessory. It is attached at the front on the seat surface of the rehab car seat.
Before assembly, clean the plastic surface on the underside of the seat with commercially available cleaning agents (e.g.
water and rinsing agent) until it is completely free from grease.
Now remove the hook and loop strips (fleece) from the adapter plate and attach them to the underside of the seat. The
hook and loop strips (hooks) remain on the adapter plate.

Position the seat flush in a 90° angle at the front of the adapter (handle of the adapter facing forwards) and tilt the seat
over to hook and loop it to the adapter.

Swivel base with adapter (Fig. 14)
With the swivel feature the rehab car seat can be turned towards the vehicle’s door. For caregivers transferring the user
and accessing the car seat’s 5-point positioning harness is made easier. For the user it is easier to get in and out inde-
pendently. Other accessories can be attached to the adapter at the front of the rehab care seat at the same time.
Seatfix adapter (Fig. 15)
ISOFIX can be used in the vehicle with the Seatfix adapter to increase the stability of the rehab car seat. Extra stability
is especially needed if the swivel feature (and / or tilt feature) is also being used. The Seatfix adapter also secures the car
seat in the vehicle when it is not being used.
Stabilising bow (Fig. 16)
The stabilising bow is attached to the back of the rehab car seat and pushed between the gap between the seat surface
and seatback of the vehicle’s seat. It is suitable if ISOFIX can’t be used. Extra stability is especially needed if the swivel
feature (and / or tilt feature) is also being used.
Stand (Fig. 17)
The stand helps to stabilise the rehab car seat. Extra stability is especially needed if the swivel feature (and / or tilt fea-
ture) is also being used.

Footrest (Fig. 18)
With the footrest the user sits firmly in the rehab car seat because they can support their legs. This prevents the user
from sliding out of the seat onto the floor of the vehicle. The footrest can be folded to make it easier to get in and out.
With the footrest the user can practice getting in and out of the seat independently.
Push the footrest tubes into the front of the adapter. To do this, depress the catch springs on the footrest. Always secure
the footrest against falling out using the knurled nuts on the left tube of the footrest adapter. Multiple holes in the foot-
rest tubes allow the footrest to be adjusted to match the depth of the vehicle’s seat.

To stabilize the footrest on the vehicle floor adjust the height of the support bars by screwing them in or out until they
have contact with the vehicle. Then lock the support bars with the hand knobs to prevent them unscrewing acciden-
tally. Screw the hand knobs upwards as far as possible and tighten them fast.

Lower leg length:
The lower leg length is adjusted by changing the height of the footrest. Loosen both outer screws. Retighten them after
each adjustment.
Foot angle:
Loosen the four screws left and right on the underside of the footrest to adjust the desired foot angle with the rails. Then
retighten the screws.
Footrest pad (Fig. 21)
The footrest pad reduces the lower leg length required if the user’s legs are not long enough.
Seat wedge, below (Fig. 22)
The seat wedge (below) is put on the vehicle’s seat under the rehab car seat to tilt the car seat. Tilting the seat back is
good for children with little body tension and / or poor head control.
The seat wedge is positioned centrically below the car seat. The high edge is at the front to achieve an optimum rest
position of the child.
Please note: Function of the turning plate is considerably reduced if being used in combination with the seat wedge. We
therefore do not recommend using seat wedge and turning plate at the same time.

Table (Fig. 25)
The table is put in front of the user’s stomach. It gives the user stability and a sense of security. The user can lean on
it and sit upright better. It blocks the view to the belt buckle and keeps the user from unbuckling it. The user can do
activities on the surface.
Mount the side parts of the table first, by pulling them over the round corners of the seat. The side with the larger fabric
must face outwards. Attach the fabric to the wheels for the seat adjustment using the provided holes in the cover of the
side parts. Then tuck the downwards overlaying fabric below the seat cover.

Now fasten the table to the hook and loop straps of the side parts. Guide the belt around the back of the seat and fasten
it to the hook and loop (fleece) at the side of the table.

Crotch pad (Fig. 28)
The crotch pad is put under the belt buckle of the 5-point positioning harness of the rehab car seat. It protects the user
from uncomfortable pressure on the stomach from the belt buckle and cushions movement and pressure in the crotch.
Soft harness strap cover (Fig. 29)
The soft harness strap cover protects the user’s shoulders from painful pressure and gashes from the belts.
Belt extension (Fig. 30)
The belt extension is needed for older users to ensure the belt still fits.
Only for ECE Group II + III, 18 - 36 kg / 39.7 - 79.4 lbs.
Anti-escape vest (Fig. 31)
The anti-escape vest prevents the child from squirming out of the car seat. Dangerous spaces between the belt and the
child will be discovered which the child might take advantage of to slip off the belt.
Car seat protection mat with back (Fig. 32)
The car seat protection mat is under the child’s car seat on the seat of the vehicle and the seatback. It protects the seat
surface and the seatback of the vehicle from damage. Small items can be stored in the front pockets.

Material Specifications
Padding: Polyester – Trevira CS / 100% Polyester - RECARO Prime
The material used for the padding is “flame retardant” and was tested in accordance with DIN EN 1021-1 and DIN EN
1021-2.
The material and components underwent standard testing to determine the extent of their resistance to inflammation
and were assessed as being very unlikely to catch fire.
The 100% Trevira CS / RECARO Prime material is a high-quality, breathable material and tested positive for biocompat-

Cleaning, Maintenance, and Repair
Cleaning, Care Instructions, and Disinfection on a Daily Basis
Padding
The padding can be easily removed in a few simple steps and washed separately. The padding consists of a fabric cover
and sometimes fillers made of foam. Check if the padding has a zipper or a hook and latch fastener. If it does, open the
padding and remove the foam filler before washing the cover. Please also note the following care instructions.

We would like to point out that even high-quality materials can fade as a result of long and intense exposure to sunlight
or frequent washing.
Hook and Loop Fasteners
To keep the hook and loop fasteners working well, clean them now and then with a brush. Always close or cover the
hook and loop fasteners before washing.
Plastic Parts
The plastic parts on the product can be cleaned and disinfected with standard soap (neutral soap).
Metal Parts
The metal parts on the product can be cleaned and disinfected with standard soap (neutral soap).
Disinfection
Clean the padding, plastic parts, and metal parts before disinfecting.
Damp wipe all the plastic and metal parts on the product with disinfectant. Only water-based products should be used.
When disinfecting note the directions from the manufacturer in question.
Maintenance and inspection by the distributor
Preparation
A copy of the Instructions for Use has to be enclosed with the product. If one is not available, request a copy from the
distributor. Familiarise yourself with how the product works. If you are not familiar with the product, read the Instruc-
tions for Use before testing it. Clean the product before starting to test is. Please note the care instructions in the Instruc-
tions for Use and product-specific test instructions. If you have further questions, please contact the staff member you
dealt with or Thomashilfen directly.
Service and repairs to the product should only be done by qualified staff. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that the
prescribed inspections / maintenance are done regularly and in a timely fashion. If damage is apparent, the user has to
actively inform and have the damage fixed immediately by qualified staff.

Spare Parts
Only original spare parts should be used for repairs. A list of the spare parts is available at www.thomashilfen.de. To
receive the right spare parts or for possible technical recalls, we normally require the serial number / UDI-PI and the
exact UDI-DI.
Removal / installation of spare parts should only be done by qualified staff! In the event of returns, please make sure the
product is securely packaged for transportation.
Storage
Store the product in a safe place when it is not being used. Do not lay or put any heavy objects on the product while
it is being stored. Protect the product from weather like rain, intense sunlight, and frost. If the product is wet, wipe the
metal and plastic parts dry and let the padding dry before storing the product.
Disposal
If the product is no longer usable due to its condition or it has reached the end of its service life, it can be recycled at
the local waste disposal company. Please refer to the local guidelines for recycling and disposal.
EU Declaration of Conformity
We hereby declare as the party solely responsible that this product and any versions and accessories comply with the
basic regulations. The current EU Declaration of Conformity can be downloaded at www.thomashilfen.de or requested
from us directly.
Warranty
Thomashilfen offers you the two-year warranty as required by law for this product. The warranty period starts when the
item is handed over. The warranty includes all claims which impact function. Not included is damage which is the result
of improper use (e.g. overloading) and natural wear and tear.
