„Auch in Kaunas lässt es sich leben“ – dieses Motto
plakatierte eine Künstlergruppe 2001 in der Stadt. Ihr Ziel:

zweitgrößten litauischen Stadt zu stärken, die damals
noch tief im Schatten der Hauptstadt Vilnius stand.
Mittlerweile sind die Menschen in Kaunas stolz auf ihre
Stadt und immer mehr Hauptstädter, auch aus Riga und
Tallinn, blicken neidisch auf Kaunas.
“Life is good in Kaunas too” – this was the slogan announced
on posters displayed around the city by a group of artists in
2001. The aim was to boost the confidence of the 300,000
inhabitants in Lithuania’s second-largest city, which was
then still lying in the shadow of the capital Vilnius. Today, the
people of Kaunas are proud of their city, while ever more
residents from the capital, as well as from Riga and Tallinn,
have grown somewhat envious of Kaunas.
