4|5 The glacier: What a summer experience. Der Sommer am Kitzsteinhorn. Ein Erlebnis für sich. Direkt am Nati- onalpark Hohe Tauern und inmitten der höchsten Berge Österreichs gelegen, zeigt sich die hochalpine Natur von ihrer spektakulärsten Seite. Am Gletscher trotzt der Schnee selbst den hochsommerlichen Temperaturen im Tal. Massive Felsformationen wechseln sich mit grün bewachsenen, blühenden Hügellandschaften ab. Kristallklare Bergbäche sorgen für wohltuende Erfrischung, die Panoramablicke lassen einen demütig werden. Und mit ein wenig Glück kann man Murmeltiere, Gämse oder sogar Steinadler beobachten. Summer on the Kitzsteinhorn is an experience in itself. Right next to the Hohe Tauern National Park and situated amidst the highest mountains in Austria, the high alpine nature is at its most spectacular. Up on the glacier the snow defies even the high summer temperatures down in the valley. Mighty rock formations jut out among the green hilltops and meadows strewn with flowers. The crystal clear mountain streams are a welcome source of refreshment and the panoramic views make one feel very humble indeed. With a bit of luck you might spot a marmot, a chamois or a golden eagle.

2c | Almrosenweg (Rundwanderweg):
Der kurze Rundweg startet bei der Häuslalm und führt vorbei an einer

This short circular route, which begins at the Häuslalm, runs over hills
covered in Almrosen (alpine roses), juicy green alm meadows with

2d | Häuslalmweg (Rundwanderweg)
Der leichte Rundweg beginnt bei der Häuslalm und führt über hüge-
liges Gelände durch üppige Almrosenweiden an einer alten Hirten-
ruine vorbei und entlang des Grubbaches durch eine wunderschöne
Naturlandschaft wieder zurück zum Ausgangspunkt.

To the Maiskogel This alpine walk starts at the Alpincenter and runs
over an impressive high path, with a variety of alpine flora and unique
panoramic views, to the Maiskogel. From there one can either walk or
take the wander bus to Kaprun.
Duration: 4 hrs. to the Maiskogelalm (start wander bus), 6 hrs. to Kaprun

Freeride Trails.
Insgesamt umfasst das Mountainbike-Freeride-Angebot am Kitzstein-
horn drei Abschnitte. Die durchgehende Abfahrt vom Alpincenter bis MountainIbike Service
ins Tal beträgt nahezu 12 km und überwindet 1.500 Höhenmeter. Mountainbike Info Points
