Zu den Digitalen Internationalen Woche 2021, vom 31.
Mai bis 11. Juni, werden 40 internationale Lehrende die
Lehrveranstaltungen der Universität Vechta mit ihren
internationalen Perspektiven auf Forschung und Lehre
bereichern. Die Besonderheit: Die Lehrveranstaltungen
der internationalen Gäste finden im Rahmen der Lehr-
veranstaltungen ihrer Vechtaer Fachkolleg*innen statt,
werden in deutscher oder englischer Sprache gehalten
und sind für Interessierte geöffnet. Ein vielfältiges Rah-
menprogramm mit Fotowettbewerb und interkulturellen
Trainings, sowie spannende Zusatzangebote runden die
Internationalen Wochen ab.

Welcome
to the International Campus!
The Digital International Weeks 2021 from 31 May to 11
June will be attended by 40 international teachers, who
enrich the lectures with their international perspectives
on research and teaching. The peculiarity of the inter-
national week is that the international guests’ lectures
take place within the scope of lectures of their Vechtaer
colleagues, the lessons are held in either German or Eng-
lish and are opened to interested visitors. An extensive
accompanying program, including a photo competition is
also part of the event and further additional academic,
social and cultural offers complete the International
Weeks.
The International Weeks take place online at internatio-
nal.uni-vechta.de

Prof'in Dr'in Senta Goertler
Senta Goertler (Ph.D., University of Arizona) is Associate
Professor of Second Language Studies and German, the
Director of the German Basic Language Program, and
Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies in the Depart-
ment of Linguistics, Languages and Cultures at Michigan
State University.
Her research focuses on program administration and
co-curricular language learning such as through tech-
nology or education abroad. While most of her research
has focused on technology-mediated language learning
(including computer literacy), her most recent significant
publication is the co-authored book “From Study Abroad
to Education Abroad: Language Proficiency, Intercultural
Competence, and Diversity.”
20In the book, Drs. Goertler and Schenker summarize the
history of and trends in study abroad in the US; and the
research results on the short-term and long-term impact
of education abroad on language development, intercul-
tural competence, academic, personal, and professional
goals, as well as society. The final part of the book makes
recommendations for practitioners and program desig-
ners for maximizing outcomes and improving diversifi-
cation.
Prof'in Goertler herself is in her 24th year of study abro-
ad and served as the Academic Director for the Academic
Year in Freiburg program twice.

Betsy King
Betsy King is the Development Manager of Scotland’s UN
University recognised Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE)
in Education for Sustainable Development, Learning for
Sustainability Scotland, hosted within the Moray House
School of Education, University of Edinburgh. Part of
the global network of more than 179 RCEs, the centre is
an open network where members and partners come to-
gether to undertake collaborative projects, research and
advocacy that push forward Learning for Sustainability
practice and policy in Scotland. Betsy has a long standing
commitment to Learning for Sustainability, working as a
Geography teacher, for the Peak National Park Centre, the
University of Papua New Guinea and a number of NGOs
in the UK, most recently as Education Policy Officer for
WWF Scotland. A specialist in professional development
for educators, she is a Steering Group member of the UK
Network for Teacher Education for Equity and Sustaina-
bility (TEESNet).

Dr'in Lara Paschold
Dr. Lara Paschold, Professorin an der Hochschule für Ag-
rar- und Umweltpädagogik, ist dort für die Lehre und For-
schung im Bereich der Agrar- und Umweltberatung sowie
der Erwachsenenbildung verantwortlich.
Nach den Masterstudien in Bildung für Nachhaltige Ent-
wicklung sowie systemischer Beratung promovierte sie
im Fach Geographiedidaktik über die Möglichkeiten, Ler-
nen in ländlichen Räumen durch Kooperation von Schulen
und landwirtschaftlichen Betrieben zu fördern.
Als Dozentin in einer Erwachsenenbildungseinrichtung im
ländlichen Raum war sie mehrere Jahre für die Konzeption
und Durchführung methodischer Fortbildungen für land-
wirtschaftliche Beraterinnen und Berater zuständig.
Ihre aktuellen Forschungsschwerpunkte sind die Agrar-
und Umweltberatung, die Erwachsenenbildung, Schule
am Bauernhof sowie Gender und Diversity in der Bera-
tung.

Germanistik
Dr'in Elena Kalashnikova
Frau Dr. Elena Kalashnikova, die Lehrstuhlinhaberin für
deutsche Phonetik, lehrt und forscht mehr als 25 Jahre an
der Staatlichen Linguistischen Universität Moskau.
Im Rahmen ihres Studiums und ihrer Dissertation setzte
sie sich mit den sprachwissenschaftlichen Aspekten wie
Phonologie, Phonetik und Phonostilistik der deutschen
Sprache auseinander.
22Die Schwerpunkte ihrer heutigen Untersuchungen sind
Aussprachenorm und ihre Varianten, Phonostilistik, Sozi-
ophonetik und Sprecherziehung. Die gebürtige Moskaue-
rin veröffentlichte dazu zahlreiche Artikel.

Prof'in Dr'in Christine Kanz
Christine Kanz lehrt als Hochschulprofessorin für Neuere
deutsche Literaturwissenschaft im Hochschul-Verbund
‘Cluster Mitte’ in Linz und Salzburg und ist Gastprofesso-
rin an der Universität Gent.
Zu Ihren Forschungsinteressen zählen emotionswissen-
schaftliche, diversitätstheoretische und ökokritische An-
sätze.
Zuletzt erschienen u.a. Beiträge zur „Neuerfindung der
‚Natur‘ in Thomas Hettches Roman „Pfaueninsel“ (2018),
zu ökokritischen Tendenzen zwischen ‚Nature Writing’ und
„Geländetext“ (2020), zum literarischen Pflanzendiskurs
im Zeitalter des Anthropozän (2020) sowie zum ‚Kriti-
schen Naturschreiben’ (2021).

Dr'in Vera Gallistl
Dr.in Vera Gallistl studierte Soziologie und Rechtswis-
senschaften an der Universität Wien. Aktuell ist sie als
Universitätsassistentin am Institut für Soziologie der
Universität Wien und als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin
am Zentrum für Gerontologie und Gesundheitsforschung
der Privatuniversität Krems beschäftigt.
In ihrer Arbeit beschäftigt sich Vera Gallistl mit den
digitalen Kulturen des Alters, die sie aus einer Pers-
pektive an der Schnittstelle zwischen Gerontologie und
Science-and-Technology-Studies (STS) erforscht. Aus so
einer Perspektive erforscht sie in nationalen und inter-
nationalen Forschungsprojekten etwa Exklusionserfah-
rungen ältere „Offliner“, Prozesse der Technikaneignung
und des digitalen Lernens im Alter oder die digitalen
Praktiken ältere Internetnutzer*innen aus einer inter-
national vergleichenden Perspektive. In einem zweiten
Arbeitsschwerpunkt beschäftigt sich Vera Gallistl mit
der kulturellen Teilhabe älterer Menschen und der Ent-
wicklung der Kulturgerontologie im deutschsprachigen
Raum, und erforscht etwa ältere Künstler*innen, die Rolle
älterer Menschen in der Kunst- und Kulturpolitik oder die
kulturelle Bildung im Alter.
Vera Gallistl ist als Herausgeberin des internationalen
Sammelbands „Kulturgerontologie – Relationen, Kons-
tellationen, Distinktionen“ tätig, der im Springer Verlag
erscheint. Sie war als internationale Gastwissenschaf-
terin am Trent Center of Ageing and Society (Peterbo-
rough, Kanada) und an der Ben-Gurion University of the
Negev (Be’er Sheva, Israel) tätig und ist Gründungs- und
Vorstandsmitglied des internationalen Forscher*innen-
netzwerks „Socio-Gerontechnology“ und des DFG-Nach-
wuchsforscher*innennetzwerks „Material Gerontology“.

Sara Santini achieved her Bachelor Degree in Political
Sciences-Social Policies at the “Alma Mater Studiorum”
University of Bologna in 2000 and a second Bachelor
Degree in violin in 2001 at the Conservatory of Pescara.
She also achieved a Master Degree in Management of
Network Healthcare Systems at the Polytechnic Univer-
sity of the Marche Region, Faculty of Economics in 2013.
She is sociologist and research manager at the Centre for
Socio-Economic Research on Aging- IRCCS INRCA - Nati-
onal Institute of Health and Science on Aging Research
Department since 2000 and Contract Professor of Socio-
logy at the Polytechnic University of the Marche Region,
Faculty of Medicine-Nursing Sciences since 2019. She
was elected Eurocarers board member in Autumn 2020.
Her research interests are: intergenerational relations-
hips, informal family care, Active and Healthy Ageing and
ICTs for elderly care. She was responsible for many natio-
nal and nternational research studies and author of seve-
ral scientific publications focused on her research fields.

Dott.ssa Geogia Casanova
Italian researcher specialized in social health policy at
national and international level.
Social researcher in welfare issues since 2002., using
the applied research approach to cross-countries and
evaluation analysis. Expert in quantitative and statistical
methods analysis, together with qualitative methods.
She worked and studied in different European countries
as well as developing countries in Africa and Balkans
areas. The quantitative skills analysis has grown from a
socioeconomic background and offers good multidiscip-
linary and policy analysis skills. As “policy analyst rese-
archer” she has had the opportunity to work in National
and Local Agencies for services, NGOs, Universities and
specialized Research Centres.
25The main keywords of her research experience are: ageing,
long term care, socioeconomic inequalities, social inclusion,
social innovation, quality of services. She has taught in dif-
ferent Italian university centres, focusing her intervention
on Methodology and Techniques for Social Research, Social
Policies and Services Organization, Ageing and Social Inno-
vation.

Geschichtswissenschaft
Prof. Dr. Armin Owzar
Armin Owzar has been teaching as full professor of Mo-
dern and Contemporary History of the German-speaking
countries at the Sorbonne Nouvelle / University of Paris
3 since 2013.
He has previously taught at the University of Freiburg
(Germany), the University of California, San Diego (UCSD),
and the University of Münster.
Owzar’s research is concerned with the political, cultural
and social history of Central and Western Europe during
the 19th and 20th century, with special focus on the
Napoleonic Era in Germany, the Imperial State of Germany
and German postwar history. Further thematic research
focuses on urban history, historical anthropology, poli-
tical iconography, and the relationship between religion
and politics.
He has published a monograph on the middle classes in

Prof. Dr. Michael Nagler
Michael Nagler, PhD, is professor emeritus of Classics
and Comparative Literature at UC Berkeley, where he
founded the Peace and Conflict Studies Program and
taught upper-division courses on nonviolence, meditation
and the meaning of life.
He has spoken and written on peace and nonviolence
for over forty years, and is founder and president of the
Metta Center for Nonviolence. Among other recognitions,
Michael received the prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Award for
Promoting Gandhian Values Outside India in 2007.
He is the author of America Without Violence (Island
Press, 1982), The Upanishads (with Sri Eknath Easwaran,
Nilgiri Press, 1987), The Search for a Nonviolent Future
(Inner Ocean Publishing) which won the 2002 American
Book Award,
The Nonviolence Handbook and The Third Harmony:
Nonviolence and the New Story of Human Nature
(Berrett-Koehler, 2020). He wrote and directed Metta’s
documentary film, “The Third harmony.”
Michael has lived at the Blue Mountain Center of Medita-
tion's community in Northern California since 1970.

Prof. Mohammed Abu-Nimer is a Senior Adviser at the
KAICIID Dialogue Centre and Professor of International
Peace and Conflict Resolution at the American University.

for peace and Justice, and co-founder of Journal of Peace-
building and Development.
He has worked for over three decades in number of con-
flict areas, including: Middle East, Chad, Niger, Mindanao,

Islamic models of peacebuilding; inter-religious dialo-
gue; civic education; forgiveness and reconciliation; and
evaluation of peacebuilding programs.

Spyridon A. Koutroufinis wurde 1967 in Thessaloniki/
Griechenland geboren. Er studierte in Deutschland In-
genieurswissenschaften mit einem Zusatzstudium der

1994 promovierte er in Wissenschaftsphilosophie an der
Humboldt-Universität Berlin zu Problemen der Selbstor-
ganisationstheorie.
2009 wurde er an der Technischen Universität Berlin ha-
bilitiert, wo er seit 2010 als Privatdozent für Philosophie
tätig ist.
Zwischen 2012 und 2014 war er Visiting Associate Pro-
fessor und Research Scholar an der University of Califor-
nia, Berkeley. Seine Forschungs- und Lehrschwerpunkte
liegen in der Biophilosophie, der Prozessphilosophie, der
klassischen Metaphysik, und der Komplexitätstheorie.

Rona Utami, born in the southern part of Indonesia's
Sumatera Island, is currently living in a city of culture
Yogyakarta where she is working as a full-time lecturer at
the Faculty of Philosophy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM)
after graduated from Universite de Lorraine, France,
under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jean-Christophe Merle.
She teaches several courses namely Pancasila Education
(National Ideology), Philosophy of History, Biomedical
Ethics, and English for Philosophy.
Having research interests in the field of Applied Ethics
and Philosophy of History, she is now working on research
related to biomedical ethics and public health ethics on
the discrimination of transgender patients in accessing
health services in Yogyakarta.

Prof. C. E. Emmer earned a PhD in philosophy at Stony
Brook University (New York) after extensive studies in

“kitsch” and Immanuel Kant’s theories of the beautiful, the
sublime, and art. He currently teaches at Emporia State
University in Kansas (USA), where his favorite courses

teenth-century philosophy). He has team-taught “Religi-
on, Secularism, and Society” with Prof. Michael Smith. He

Magnus de Witt ist ein Doktorand an der School of Scien-
ce and Engineering an der Reykjavik University auf Island.
Sein Masterstudium hat er an der selben Universität
abgeschlossen, im Bereich Sustainable Energy Enginee-
ring an der lceland School of Energy. Des weiteren, hat er
einen Bachelor im Bereich Maschinenbau.
Seit dem Anfang seiner akademischen Laufbahn lag
der Fokus auf Prozess und Projektoptimierung mit dem
Schwerpunkt Nachhaltigkeit. Besonders prägend war sei-
ne Zeit als Masterstudent auf Island und ein Austausch
mit der Polytechnischen Universität von lrkutsk. Diese
Zeit hat ein besonderes Interesse für die arktische Re-
gionen hervorgerufen, was zu seinem momentanen For-
schungsschwerpunkt führte.
Seine Forschung Thematisiert die Energiewende in iso-

I teach child and family social work and social work rese-
arch theory. In my Phd I studied Support Family Interven-
tion and the practice theory guiding it. Support Families
are volunteers who provide community-based support to
children and parents coping with a range of psycho-so-
cial challenges. The child usually spends one weekend a
month with a Support Family.
In my research I apply the critical realist frame to study
social work and especially its interventions. At the mo-
ment I work in researh project where we study the quality
of relationships between the support family or support
person and the child.

Prof Schiller started her career as registered social wor-
ker in the field of child protection and immediately conti-
nued with her postgraduate studies.
She held numerous positions at Child Protection Organi-
sations and Child and Youth Care Centres that layed the
foundation for venturing into her own Private Practice.
This was the inspiration for pursuing her PhD in Forensic
Social Work where after she started her career in the
academia focussing on practice training of social work
students and the University of Pretoria.
In 2014 she started her career at the University of Fort
Hare in 2014 as lecturer and is currently serving in the
Department of Social Work and Social Development as
an associate professor and Deputy Dean of the Faculty.
She is the postgraduate coordinator and undergraduate
coordinator for the research programmes.
Her lecturing is centered on the third and fourth year
social work students with specific focus on modules in
Employee Assistance Programmes, Integrated and Re-
flective Social Work and Introduction to Research.
Alongside her teaching responsibilities she is supervi-
sing a number of Masters and PhD Candidates. Her own
research niche area is in Child Protection, Forensic Social
Work services and Social Innovation with a number of pu-
blications in this field. Her community engagement initia-
tives are focussed on ensuring that her research findings
are conversed back to the communities to contribute to
sustainable development and upliftment in the communi-
ties that are being researched.

He completed his primary and high school education in
Karaman and graduated from Adnan Menderes University,

Social Work Department in 2011. In the same year, he
started to work in Antalya Police Department, Child-
ren's Branch. After working here until 2014, he started
to work as a lecturer in Akdeniz University Social Work
and Consultancy Department in the same year. He is still

ration. He has published some research articles in reco-

44Dr'in Walentina Ushakowa
Dr. Walentina Uschakowa ist Dozentin an der Universität
St. Petersburg. Eines ihrer Hauptthemengebiete ist die
Genderforschung, Gender in digitale Gesellschaft, Sozio-
logie der Familie in Russland. Sie ist die Autorin des ersten
Online-Kurses "Einführung in Gender Soziologie" auf der
internationalen Bildungs-Plattform "Coursera" und auf
russlandische Bildungs-Plattform “Offene Bildung”. Mehr
als 5.000 Zuhörer/Innen dieses Kurses leben in 92 Län-
dern auf fuenf Kontinenten unseres Planeten.
Dr. Walentina Uschakowa ist Co-Leiterin der Sektion für
Geschlechtssoziologie der Russischen Gesellschaft für
Soziologen, Expertinnen für geschlechtsspezifische und
familiäre Problematik im Russischen Fernsehen/Medien.
Ihre Studien-Kurse für Gender-Soziologie sind bei den
Studenten und Studentinnen unverändert beliebt. Sie
ist die Autorin und Leiterin des ersten in Russland Mas-
ter-Programms "Gender Studies" an der Staats Universi-
tät Sankt-Petersburg, Autorin von mehr als 160 wissen-
schaftlichen Publikationen.
Auf Einladung von Prof. Dr. Rita Stein-Redent wird Sie zur
Genderforschung, Familie- und Gender Soziologie einige
Vorträge im Rahmen der internationalen Woche halten
und so interessante Einblicke in die moderne russische

Dr'in Rana Sabri AlBahsh
Rana AlBahsh is an Assistant Professor at the school of
Management and logistic Sciences at the German Jor-
danian University (GJU) in Jordan.
Before joining the GJU, Rana worked in other universities
and academic institutions in Europe and the Middle East.
She has participated in projects with other universities in
Europe and the MENA countries.
Her non-academic experience was in management and
consultation in Qatar and in Jordan, as well as in creating
project proposals for NGOs. She participates in voluntary
and charity work that aim to develop human capital.
She is now the Exchange Coordinator for the exchange
students and faculties between GJU and Germany, where
she had established agreements, workshops, and other
activities between the two sides. She is interested in
introducing ethics philosophy and inter-disciplinary di-
mensions in her work.

Sevgin Batuk
Sevgin Batuk studierte Wirtschaftswissenschaften und
Management an der Istanbul Bilgi University und der Uni-
versity of London.
Sie promovierte an der Bogazici University (Istanbul-Tür-
kei). Ihre Forschungsbereiche sind Führung, Institutionali-
sierung und Managementtheorien.
Sie arbeitet an der Türkisch-Deutschen Universität als
Assistenzprofessorin und Vize-Dekanin der Fakultät für
Wirtschafts-und Verwaltungswissenschaften.

Digital international summer school:
European and international perspectives on social work
Pick up European and international social work
knowledge and competencies in this digital summer
school. Lecturers from 11 countries and 4 continents
will be discussing social work themes such as diversity,
culture, and migration. Comparative studies will con-
trast practices in different countries, demonstrating
the richness of social work internationally. Social work
across the human life cycle will be examined, from child-
ren and families’ services to gerontological social work.
International students participating in the programme
will be linking in and exchanging ideas with German
students. A chance to internationalise your social work
perspectives, and gain 6 ECTS credits.
