Mit einem abwechslungsreichen Programm
in den ersten vier Monaten startet das
Messejahr 2018. Den Auftakt macht Mitte
Januar traditionell die boot, die weltweit
größte Wassersportmesse für die Liebhaber
des nassen Elementes. Mit deutlich über
1.800 Ausstellern in 16 Hallen stellt sie alles
Bisherige in den Schatten – Wassersport in
all seinen Schattierungen und Facetten ist so populär wie seit Langem
nicht mehr. Auf Erfolgskurs segeln auch die Fachmessen BEAUTY,
TOP HAIR, ProWein oder EuroCis – und das kontinuierlich seit vie-
len Jahren. Nach zwei Jahren stehen wieder die wire und TUBE auf
dem Programm, die internationalen Leitmessen für die Draht- und
Röhrenindustrie.
Knapp eine Million Besucher und über 22.000 Aussteller werden in
diesem Jahr erwartet. Düsseldorf, die Metropole am Rhein, empfängt
die Aussteller und Besucher aus der ganzen Welt mit offenen Armen
– und das nicht zuletzt dank der lebendigen Gastro- und Barszene. Ein
Highlight ist sicherlich auch wieder die Aktion „ProWein goes City“
Mitte März, eine Initiative der Destination Düsseldorf, der Zusam-
menschluss von über 150 Düsseldorfer Unternehmen zur Stärkung
des Wirtschaftsstandortes Düsseldorf.
The trade fair year 2018 starts with a varied programme in the first four
months of the year, which is traditionally launched in mid-January with
boot, the world's largest water sports trade fair for enthusiasts of this wet
element. With well over 1,800 exhibitors in 16 halls, it eclipses everything
that has been before - water sports in all its nuances and facets are more
popular than ever before. The trade fairs BEAUTY, TOP HAIR, ProWein
and EuroCis have also been on the road to success for many years. After two
years, wire and TUBE, the world's leading trade fairs for the wire and tube
industry, will once again be on the agenda this year. Almost one million
visitors and over 22,000 exhibitors are expected this year.
Düsseldorf, the metropolis on the Rhine, welcomes exhibitors and visitors
from all over the world with open arms -– not least thanks to the lively res-
taurant and bar scene. One of the highlights will undoubtedly be the "Pro-
Wein goes City" campaign in mid-March, an initiative of Destination Düs-
seldorf, the merger of over 150 Düsseldorf companies to strengthen Düsseldorf
as a business location.

Die fünfte Jahreszeit
startet am 8. Februar
Sie heißt die „fünfte Jahreszeit“ – und sie hat nichts mit den vier Jahreszeiten
gemeinsam. Die Rede ist vom Düsseldorfer Karneval, der weit über die
Landesgrenzen hinaus bekannt ist und Touristen aus aller Welt anzieht.
Höhepunkt ist der Straßenkarneval, der mit der Weiberfastnacht am Donners-
tag (8. Februar), startet – ehe am Rosenmontag ganz Düsseldorf „jeck“ wird.
Eine besondere Düsseldorfer Spezialität ist der Karnevals-Sonntag, dann
flanieren die Karnevalsjecken über Düsseldorfs Prachtboulevard und laufen

The fifth season starts on 8 February
It is called the “fifth season” – and it has nothing in common with the four seasons.
We are talking about the Düsseldorf Carnival, which is known far beyond the borders
of Germany and attracts tourists from all over the world. The highlight is the street
carnival, which starts with the Women’s Carnival (Weiberfastnacht) on Thursday
(8 February) - before all of Düsseldorf goes crazy (jeck) on Rosenmontag. A particular
Düsseldorf speciality is Carnival Sunday; then the carnival enthusiasts stroll along
Düsseldorf's gorgeous boulevard and warm up for Rosenmontag.

boot 2018 steht vor
Rekordbeteiligung
Die boot Düsseldorf, die weltweit größte Messe für 360° Wassersport, steht vor
einem neuen Topergebnis: Mit deutlich mehr als 1.800 teilnehmenden
Unternehmen wird sie die bisherige Rekordmarke einstellen, und auch die
Ausstellungsfläche wird sich durch die Belegung der Halle 8a mit der Beach
World noch einmal steigern. Insgesamt belegt die boot vom 20. bis 28. Januar
2018 bei ihrer 49. Auflage 16 Messehallen. Die boot ist der internationale
Trendsetter der Branche und wird auch 2018 neue attraktive Akzente setzen.
Ob Surfer, Taucher oder Wassersporturlauber, Segler oder Motorbootfahrer, ob
Schlauchboot oder Luxusyacht - die boot ist die weltweite Nr. 1-Destination
für alle Menschen, die den Sport im, am und auf dem Wasser lieben.
Der Megatrend unter den Wassersportarten ist Stand-up-Paddling (SUP): Es ist
variabel und lässt sich auf fast allen Gewässern und bei unterschiedlichsten kli-
matischen Bedingungen ausüben. Dementsprechend erweitert die boot ihr
Aktionsbecken auf 65 Meter Länge. Hier wird es zudem eine besonders
actionreiche Variante des SUP geben: Mit den neuen Foiling-Boards lässt sich
rasant über das Wasser schweben. Auch das Windsurfen zieht mit dem Tow-In
mit frischem Wind in die boot ein. Dafür bietet die Halle 8a, die um mehr als
1.000 Quadratmeter größer ist als die bisherigen Trendsporthallen, ausreichend

EuroCIS 2018:
Technology never sleeps
Technology never sleeps – der technologische Fortschritt hört niemals auf.
Auch im Handel revolutioniert die Technologie sämtliche Bereiche, in immer
kürzeren Innovationszyklen. Es ist diese Dynamik der Entwicklungen, die die
EuroCIS unabdingbar macht. Jahr für Jahr und erneut vom 27. Februar bis
1. März in Düsseldorf. Über 400 Aussteller und rund 10.500 internationale

men werden. Für einen direkten Praxisbezug ist ebenfalls gesorgt, denn sowohl
das EuroCIS Forum, als auch das Omnichannel Forum bieten aktuelle
Fallstudien, Innovationen und Trends, die gemeinsam von Ausstellern und
ihren Kunden präsentiert werden (zweisprachig D/GB).

ta, fried fish or “Schäufele” (braised beef shoulder). The crispy delights are prepared in
the rotisserie. Vegetarian food, salads and sweet desserts round off the selection. With
good food, there should be something good to drink: You have a choice of selected wines,

Dann können die Feinschmecker der Region wieder 26 Tage lang kreative
Menükreationen testen und bewerten – in diesem Jahr mit einigen neuen
Highlights. Die Menüvariationen der rund 50 Spitzengastronomen kennen
keine Grenzen – ob ein kleines, aber feines 3-Gang-Menü oder ausgefeilte 6
Gänge, bei der tour de menu bringen die Köche ihr Bestes auf den Teller.
Ebenso vielfältig wie die Menüs sind die teilnehmenden Restaurants: Eine
Mischung aus Traditionshäusern
und modernen Lokalen bildet

The 19th tour de menu will be launched again from 21 February to 18 March 2018.
The region’s gourmets will then again be able to test and evaluate imaginative menu
creations 26 days long - this year with some new highlights. The menu variations of
the approximately 50 top gastronomes know no bounds - whether a small but fine
3-course-menu or sophisticated 6 courses, with
the tour de menu - the chefs bring their best on
the plate. The participating restaurants are just
as varied as the menus: A mixture of traditional
and modern restaurants forms a cross-section of
the regional gastronomic scene. The changing
combination of longstanding participants and
new restaurants makes the tour a unique

Jubiläumsfeier konnten die Gäste im Apollo Varieté nicht nur exzellente Weine
verkosten, sondern sich auch über Südafrika als Weindestination und Fernreise-
ziel informieren in Zusammenarbeit mit Explorer Fernreisen.
Die Idee stieß auf so positive Resonanz, dass 2017 das bewährte Konzept der
Genussevents im Rahmen von ProWein goes city erstmals um zwei eigene
Veranstaltungen zum Thema „Wein & Reisen“ erweitert wurde: Unter dem
Motto „Genuss für alle Sinne“ stellte sich Südaustralien als Topdestination für
Weingenießer und attraktives Reiseziel vor, während Slowenien zu einer
Weinreise durch das grüne Herz Europas einlud mit Winzern, kulinarischen
Köstlichkeiten und Künstlern. „Der Erfolg dieser beiden Veranstaltungen hat
uns gezeigt, dass die Idee richtig ist, und uns ermutigt, das Projekt 2018 weiter
auszubauen“, sagt Boris Neisser von der Destination Düsseldorf. In der Classic
Remise Düsseldorf werden daher am 16. März internationale Winzer ihre
edlen Tropfen präsentieren im schönen Ambiente des ehemaligen Ringlok-
schuppens, der heute das bekannte Oldtimerkompetenzzentrum beherbergt.
„Wir werden natürlich die Oldtimer so arrangieren, dass sie zu den Nationalitä-
ten der Winzer passen. Der Winzer aus dem Bordeaux wird seine Weine
beispielsweise an einem Stand vorstellen, der mit der legendären „Göttin“,
einer Citroën DS, dekoriert ist“, ergänzt
Neisser. Zudem dürfen sich die Besucher
auf spannende touristische Vorträge, eine
Autorenlesung und Informationen zu
zahlreichen attraktiven Reisezielen
freuen – von Aquitanien bis Württem-
berg, von Süditalien bis Südafrika.

"wine" and "travel" go well together.
Convinced of this idea, Destination
Düsseldorf launched a pilot project in 2016
to mark the tenth anniversary of ProWein
goes city: At the anniversary celebration,
guests at the Apollo Varieté were not only
able to taste excellent wines, but were also
able to find out more about South Africa as a
winegrowing and long-distance travel
destination in cooperation with Explorer
Fernreisen.
The idea was met with such a positive
response that, for the first time in 2017, the proven concept of enjoyment events
within the framework of ProWein goes city was extended by two separate events on
the subject of ”Wine & Travel“: Under the motto "Pleasure for all the senses", South
Australia presented itself as a top destination for wine connoisseurs as well as an
attractive travel destination, while Slovenia invited visitors to a wine tour through
the green heart of Europe with winegrowers, culinary delights and artists. “The success
of these two events has shown us that the idea is the right one and encourages us to
further expand the 2018 project,” says Boris Neisser of Destination Düsseldorf. For this
reason, international winegrowers will be presenting their fine wines at the Classic
Remise in Düsseldorf on 16 March, in the beautiful ambience of the former circular
locomotive shed, which today houses the well-known Oldtimer Competence Centre.
We will, of course, arrange the vintage cars in such a way that they match the
nationalities of the winegrowers. The Bordeaux winegrower will be presenting his
wines at a stand decorated with the legendary “goddess”, a Citroën DS, for example,
adds Neisser. Visitors can also look forward to exciting tourist presentations, an
author's reading and information on numerous attractive destinations - from
Aquitaine to Württemberg, from southern Italy to South Africa.

Das Altbier gehört zu Düsseldorf wie der Rhein. Vor allem die Hausbrauereien
haben den Ruf Düsseldorfs geprägt. Schon zu Jan Wellems Zeiten vor rund
300 Jahren wurde das Altbier nach dem alten Reinheitsgebot hergestellt. Noch
heute wird das Düsseldorfer Altbier nach diesen Regeln erstellt, ausschließlich
Malz, Hopfen, Hefe und Wasser werden bei der Bierproduktion eingesetzt.
Bei einem geselligen Rundgang durch die Altstadt lässt sich neben den
wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten auch die Geschichte des Altbiers und der
Hausbrauereien kennenlernen. Während des Rundgangs werden fünf
Brauereien zur „Bierprobe“ besucht und die verschiedenen Altbiere verkostet.
Die Tour dauert zwei Stunden, ist individuell oder als Gruppe zu buchen und
sie gibt es sowohl in Deutsch als auch in anderen Sprachen. Informationen

Alt beer safari
Alt beer is just as much a part of Düsseldorf as the Rhine River. Especially the traditional
breweries have characterised the reputation of Düsseldorf. Even at the time of Jan
Wellem, approximately 300 years ago, Alt beer was already brewed according to the
purity law. Today, Düsseldorf Alt beer is still produced according to these regulations:
Only malt, hops, yeast and water are used for the beer production.
During a convivial tour through the Altstadt (Old Town), you will not only find out
about the most important sights but also about the history of Alt beer and the traditional
breweries. Five breweries will be visited during the tour for a “beer tasting” where the
various Alt beers can be tried.
The tour lasts two hours and can be booked individually or as a group. It is held in
